PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

A) The resultant elevator system will maximize reliability and extend the usable lifespan of the equipment. The project will correct code violations within the hoistway, pit, machinery spaces, and control rooms. The intent is to create a system with the longest life span and make it as reliable as possible. Parts of the elevator system will be brought into compliance using a combination of the latest adopted codes and the latest published codes.

The latest technology shall be utilized to provide the most current safety features available. The building will be continually occupied during the construction period. The contractor will need to provide an accessible route for the building’s occupants and always keep one elevator in service. Temporary screening shall be installed inside the hoistway during the construction process to protect the workers inside the hoistway and to prevent interference with the car left in operation. The contractor shall provide routine monthly service and respond to calls for repair or entrapment twenty-four hours a day on the car that is in operation for the entire period of construction and warranty.

1.2 SUMMARY
