About this file
This document is a construction specifications and technical drawings file from Marion County, Florida's Office of the County Engineer, containing detailed engineering plans for stabilized construction entrance installations and typical splash pad with dissipater systems. The file includes comprehensive construction specifications for temporary construction entrances requiring a minimum 50-foot length and 12-foot width, with specific requirements for stabilized construction entrance (SCE) placement, geotextile installation, crushed aggregate placement, pipe installation for water drainage, and mountable berm construction with detailed profile and plan view drawings.
The specifications outline materials requirements including 2-3 inch stone, granite or hard rock for the base, nonwoven geotextile fabric installation prior to stone placement, and earth fill materials with specific dimensional requirements. The document also includes technical drawings for a typical splash pad with dissipater system showing concrete masonry unit (CMU) configurations for various pipe sizes ranging from 15" to 42", with corresponding width specifications and geotextile drainage fabric requirements. Construction must ensure vehicles travel over the entire SCE length, maintain positive drainage through proper pipe installation with 5:1 slopes, and include sediment tracking prevention measures with daily road cleaning requirements during construction activities.

1. PLACE THE STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT PLACE THE STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. VEHICLES MUST TRAVEL OVER THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE SCE. USE A MINIMUM LENGTH OF 50 FEET AND A MINIMUM WIDTH OF 12 FEET. FLARE THE SCE AT THE EXISTING ROAD TO PROVIDE A TURNING RADIUS. 2. PIPE ALL SURFACE WATER FLOWING TO OR DIVERTED TOWARD THE SCE UNDER THE PIPE ALL SURFACE WATER FLOWING TO OR DIVERTED TOWARD THE SCE UNDER THE ENTRANCE (MAINTAINE POSITIVE DRAINAGE). PROVIDE PIPE INSTALLED THROUGH THE SCE WITH A MOUNTABLE BERM WITH 5:1 SLOPES AND A MINIMUM OF 12 INCHES OF STONE OVER THE PIPE. WHEN THE SCE IS LOCATED AT A HIGH SPOT AND HAS NO DRAINAGE TO CONVEY, A PIPE IS NOT NECESSARY. A MOUNTABLE BERM IS REQUIRED WHEN THE SCE IS NOT LOCATED AT A HIGH SPOT. 3. PREPARE SUBGRADE AND PLACE GEOTEXTILE OVER THE ENTIRE AREA PRIOR TO PLACING PREPARE SUBGRADE AND PLACE GEOTEXTILE OVER THE ENTIRE AREA PRIOR TO PLACING THE STONE. 4. PLACE CRUSHED AGGREGATE (2 TO 3 INCHES IN SIZE) AT LEAST 6 INCHES DEEP OVER PLACE CRUSHED AGGREGATE (2 TO 3 INCHES IN SIZE) AT LEAST 6 INCHES DEEP OVER THE LENGTH AND WIDTH OF THE SCE. USE 2-3 INCH STONE, GRANITE, OR HARD ROCK. 5. MAINTAIN ENTRANCE IN A CONDITION THAT MINIMIZES TRACKING OF SEDIMENT. ADD STONE MAINTAIN ENTRANCE IN A CONDITION THAT MINIMIZES TRACKING OF SEDIMENT. ADD STONE OR MAKE OTHER REPAIRS AS CONDITIONS DEMAND TO MAINTAIN CLEAN SURFACE, MOUNTABLE BERM, AND SPECIFIED DIMENSIONS. SWEEPING OF THE COUNTY ROAD IS TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO ENSURE SEDIMENT IS REMOVED FROM THE ROAD AND THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY.
