1. General Scope: The project includes constructing a new space for a new computed tomography scanner or CT. The construction for the CT will include demolition of existing walls, finishes, HVAC systems, low voltage systems and electrical systems in preparations for the new space for the CT equipment. The new equipment will be a Siemens Somatom CT. The new CT equipment and the installation of the new CT equipment will be provided by Siemens. Site preparations for the new CT equipment will be provided and installed by the General Contractor. The project will include the relocation the existing radiology school classroom to VA Building 9, relocation of the radiology conference room, the relocation of the existing minor procedure ultrasound room and the building of a new space for the new CT equipment. These spaces require remodeling prior moving these functions from their existing locations. This project will be phased to accommodate the relocations and to make room for the new CT x-ray equipment. Modifications to the electrical systems, HAVC systems, low voltage systems, plumbing systems and finishes shall be included in the project scope.

2. Base Bid: The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and equipment to accomplish the remodeling a new radiology conference room, radiology school classroom, ultrasound minor procedure room and the new CT scanner room.

Construction shall be completed per contract drawing and specifications.

a. Demolition:

i. Building 9 Radiology School Classroom: The new classroom area will require the removal of existing floor and ceiling finishes. The HAVC system will be removed to accommodate new ducts. The electrical and low voltages systems will be modified to accommodate the needs of the classroom configuration.

ii. New Radiology Conference Room: Portion of the walls will require removal for the install of blocking to support relocated large format monitors. Existing ceiling tile will be removed and replaced with new tile. Removal of portions of the HVAC duct will be required to accommodate new HVAC ductwork configuration.

iii. New Ultrasound Minor Procedures Room: After the radiology school classroom construction is complete in Building 9 and the school has moved out the existing space, the demolition of this space can begin for the new ultrasound minor procedures room. All exiting flooring and ceiling will be removed and the existing door and frame will be removed. A new wall will be built at the east side that will provide additional space for the new CT room. The HVAC ducts and VAVs will be removed. The lighting and the electrical/low voltage system will be removed and replaced.

iv. CT Room: After the Ultrasound Minor Procedure room moves into the new space the final phase can begin. Existing walls will be removed to make room for the new CT equipment. All existing finishes including ceiling, floors and portions of gypsum board will be removed. An existing wall in the adjacent patient holding room will be removed to make space for the CT equipment room. HVAC systems and electrical/low voltage systems will be remove and replaced.

b. New Construction:

i. Radiology School Classroom: New flooring, ceilings and wall finishes will be required. New lighting, power and data will be required.

Accommodations and raceways for the relocation of existing large format displays will be required. New HVAC duct and controls will be installed. A new split cooling unit will be required to accommodate heating loads during summer and winter classroom heating loads.

ii. Radiology Conference Room: New painting and ceiling tile will be required. The existing flooring and casework will remain. Portions of the walls will be removed and patched to allow for the installation of backer for several large wall mounted monitors. New HVAC ducts, diffusers and controls will be installed. New raceways for data/signal will be required to support the relocation of several large monitors and computers that will be relocated from the existing conference room.

Relocation of the monitors and computers will not be part of the scope but the raceways to support the relocation will part of the contactors scope of work. Removal and reinstallation of ceiling mounted devices for the installation of new ceiling tile shall be included in the contractor’s scope of work.

iii. Ultrasound Minor Procedures Room: New work will include new ceiling, wall finishes, casework, flooring, doors and ceiling mounted curtain track and door operator. The space will be expanded into the existing patient preparation room and into a portion of the old radiology classroom space. New lead lined walls, doors and windows will be required.

Structural support for a new injector and monitor on arms will be included in the scope of work. The project will also include new flooring, walls with finishes, ceilings, casework and doors with auto door operator. Mechanical work includes new HVAC ductwork with

VAV boxes, diffusers and controls. Plumbing includes a new sink with hot/cold water supplies and drain/vent piping. Medical gases include both wall mounted outlets and ceiling mounted outlets. Sprinkler systems shall be installed per current code. Electrical includes both emergency and normal powered receptacles. The new CT equipment will have a UPS. Power and terminations to the UPS shall be provided and installed by the contractor. Contractor shall move the

UPS in place from the VA dock in the hospital. The UPS will be installed in a mechanical room to the north and adjacent to the CT procedure room. The UPS will require new breakers in a normal substation and in an emergency substation provided and installed by the contractor. The contractor shall provide and install a new transfer switch and all piping and conductors from the substations to the transfer switch and then to the UPS. Electrical contractor shall provide and install all Siemens raceways and conductors shown on the drawing as contractor and/or customer/owner supplied and installed.
