The purpose of this amendment is to 1) answer ALL RFI's submitted and 2) update the Specifications Package

See continuation page for answers to submitted RFI's.

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Yvonne Demorest Contracting Officer

RFI 1:

1. Is crushed, recycled concrete acceptable for the aggregate subbase in sizes #2, #53?

Response: PAVEMENT: Removed pavement may be pulverized and amended per specification and used as subgrade fill under new pavements and walkways, but in no circumstance will the amended mix be allowed as utility trench backfill, subgrade fill under building slabs and foundations, or under lawn areas. A proposed design mix must be approved by a certified geotechnical engineer, and approved by the Owner's Agent prior to any operations. AGGREGATE: Gravel drive material may be used as subgrade fill below new pavement and walkway areas, but in no circumstance will the material be allowed as utility trench backfill, subgrade fill under building slabs and foundations, or under lawn areas.

RFI 2:

1. Is this project tax exempt?

Response: No. In order to claim this you must request and submit tax exempt forms. The Indiana form utilized is State tax form 49065 (ST-105), entitled, “General Sales Tax Exemption Certificate”.

2. Who maintains the camera system that we will be tying into? Need this info so we can have an accurate price.

Response: Remove the installation of cameras only and fully install conduit and mounting bracket as shown on plans and specifications. Delete camera and cabling. Camera to be installed by the VA at a later date.

RFI 3:

1. Ref drawing CD201 keynote 24 – Is sealant required for all expansion joints?

Response: Yes, sealant is required for all expansion joints.

RFI 4:

1. Spec 01 45 00 Part 3.4, pages 6 & 7 Quality Control Organization; Based on language under paragraph A, B & C it appears several specialized quality control representatives are required on site during the respective work to assist the quality control manager. How many hours per week is the submittal clerk, architectural representative and environmental representatives required to be on-site?

Response: Specification Section 014500 – Quality Control has been updated. The requirements of this specification section has been clarified and most requirements outlined in 3.4.A and 3.4.B could be completed by a single qualified project superintendent. Elements outlined in 3.4.C have been clarified for this project and will likely only require concrete, pavement, and soils specialists.

RFI 5:

1. On drawing ES101 Note 1. It shows 2-4” conduits going under the road. It does not say or show how they should be terminated. How do you want the conduits terminated?

Response: Conduits will be turned up and stubbed up 12” above grade and capped.

The Specifications package is changed in its entirety. All changes made were based on RFI’s submitted and updated accordingly. Make sure you review all questions and the RFI’s associated with the changes made in the specification package.
