(1) Bid Schedule has a base bid and two alternates; Deductive alternate 1 a. deduct the marked area #1 sleeping suite build-out. Please advise to where on the drawings this area #1 is shown.
Please clarify note B. as to what architectural elements are to remain.

(A) See the VAMC-BC-Deduct Alternates Floor Plan attached.
(2) Drawing HA121 Note 1 remove asbestos-containing floor tile and mastic, this note is shown in rooms 218, 219, 220, C22, 235A, 215, 214, 216, 213, 209, 206, 204, 207, 208, 204, 203, 201, 200,250. Drawing AD121 shows note 4 for these same areas which is to remove flooring. Please advise if theses floors contain asbestos and need to be abated.
(A) While the notations on sheet AD121 show where flooring is to be removed, the areas where floor removal includes asbestos abatement will be required are indicated on sheet HA121.
(3) Could you provide the systems currently being used at the facility for the following?

(A) Sole Source/Brand Name information for Fire Detection and Alarm, Physical Access and Control System, Nurse Call and Code Blue System, and Video Surveillance are indicated in their respective specification sections.

(4) SF1442 – Block 13 - Bids date states July 31st @ 2:00pm but the site visit is scheduled for August 2nd.
(A) The referenced solicitation was amended on 2 July 2018 to read: An organized site visit has been scheduled for August 02, 2018, 1:00 PM Local Time July 11, 2018, 1:00 PM Local
(c) Participants will meet at—VAMC 5500 Armstrong Rd, Bldg. 9 Rm 106, Battle Creek MI, 49037.
(5) Are the keynotes on AD121 appearing? In the provided drawings the keynotes and much of the descriptions appear as empty, square boxes. Can Readable drawings be reissued?
(A) See amendment 0002
(6) Drawing AD121, AE121 have many symbols and boxes that make interpreting the plans impossible. Will these drawings be re-issued to clarify? Please advise.
(A) Same as 5: See amendment 0002
(7) All back boxes are either existing or standard industry 1 or 3 gang boxes. We do not typically provide.
The EC typically provides and installs the backboxes for our devices. Please confirm if we must provide these for the electrical contractor to install.
(A) Each back box shall be suitable for the equipment specified. Coordination of the work between the various trades and installers is the responsibility of the Contractor.
(8) This section requests patient bed receptacles for each bed being integrated with the owners existing beds. The drawings do not Reflect the need for these bed interface receptacles. Please confirm if we are to provide 37-pin bed receptacles per bed with all Associated cables and wiring.
If we are to provide, please confirm what brand bed the owner will be providing for appropriate cable needs.
(A) Existing beds do not require integration.
(9) Please confirm the VoIP Master Console of Responder 5 is acceptable. The Visual Display Panel description is not comparable. Please indicate if a Touch Screen PC Monitor is an additional requirement. This is a Monitor connected to your PC on your hospital data network running the Responder 5 PC Console application included with your Responder 5 system. The VoIP Master Console can be synchronized with the PC Console application as long as the hospitals PC IP Address remains constant.
(A) See specification section 27 52 23 1.1.A., which states: "The Nurse Call System shall be sole sourced to TekTone."
(10) Please confirm if H7 or HL7 is a requirement and if spare is needed. A quantity of zero (0) is indicated in Contractor Furnished Equipment list however in section D. Telecommunications Room (s) 3. HL7 Interface e. Provide one (1) spare HL Interface unit is requested.
(A) A spare is not required when the Contractor Furnished Equipment (FCE) list indicates a quantity of zero.
(11) Please confirm if a Staff Locator system is being furnished for this location and if the Staff Locator system is required to be integrated with Responder 5 nurse call system to generate a Green Flashing dome light and master station color and audio tone.
(A) According to the Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) list, Contractor is not required to provide a staff locater system. Staff locater system interface is still required.

(12) 081400 Interior Wood Doors – Specifications do not list approved or preferred manufacturer of wood doors. Please clarify.
(A) The requiring activity does not have a preferred door manufacturer. Please, submit product data that meets the requirements of the specifications for review and approval.
(13) 087100 Door Hardware – Markar FM300 Continuous Hinges are shown in Hardware Sets with a 691 Finish. This finish is not available from Markar. Please clarify and/or provide new finish choice or comparable manufacturer/model number.
(A) Submit manufacturer’s standard metal and powder coated paint color chart for review and selection.
(14) Door Schedule AE601 notes Opening 235 to have Automatic Operator. Its assigned Hardware Set 7B does not include an Automatic Operator nor does 087113 Automatic Door Operators clearly define or provide manufacturer/model number of required Automatic Operator. Please clarify.
(A) Door 235 to receive the following hardware set:

** Install Electric Strike with Deadbolt Retainer *** Powder Coat Finish to Match 612 Finish
Operation: Door normally unlocked. Pressing Automatic Operator Actuator button will release Electric Strike and open door for entry or egress. Throwing deadbolt will lock door for Privacy and will disable outside Automatic Operator Actuators (through Deadbolt Monitor System) to secure door for privacy.
Turning handle on inside will retract deadbolt and will allow for Automatic Operator Actuators to be active to allow for Automatic Operator egress/entry.
The requiring activity does not have a preferred auto operator manufacturer. Please, submit product data that meets the requirements of the specifications for review and approval.
(15) Door Schedule AE601 indicates Opening C30 to be a pair of 3-6 x 7-0 Doors. Floor Plan seems to show this opening as a single door. Assigned Hardware Set 3B is also for a single door. Please clarify.
(A) Door C30 is a single door. The Door Schedule on Sheet AE601 shall be revised to show a single door.
(16) Door Schedule AE601 - Openings S1-2, S2-2, S3-2 and S4-2 do not indicate any new Hardware Set(s). Please clarify.
(A) For Doors S1-2, S2-2, S3-2, and S4-2 provide the following hardware set:

(17) 102800 Toilet, Bath and Laundry Accessories – Please provide industry standard model numbers by ASI, Bobrick or Bradley for required Toilet Accessories (based on Bathroom Accessory Legend as shown on Enlarged Plans).
(A) VA does not have a preferred toilet accessories manufacturer. Please, submit product data that meets the requirements of the specifications for review and approval.
(18) Room 235 shows tile being installed @ shower only. What about the rest of the room?
Detail D5 shows wall tile; Detail D6 show wall tile only inside shower. What about balance of walls (Vanity walls, Toilet walls)?
(A) Sheet AE423 shows the walls of room 235 and along with the finish schedule indicates that ceramic wall tile to be installed throughout the room.
