3. a )Line 3 of Keyed Note 1 in bid drawing #13.ES101(page 17 of 42) states to “provide above ground diesel fuel tank & concrete pad per detail C1 & C2 on drawing E002 and specification” but there is no specification or drawing showing the detail of the above ground diesel fuel tank. Please provide the detailed specification & drawings for this above ground fuel tank along with detailed layout for supply & return fuel lines between the new generator day tank

& this new above ground storage tank.

b) Key note 9 of above drawing: Please provide the detail of the temporary generator (capacity of generator/day tank capacity & approximate duration so as to enable bidder to account this cost in the bid.

Response to 3a: The basis of design for the above ground deisel fuel tank shall be the Petro

Hopper model manufactured by Highland Tank. The tank shall be 1,000 gallons. The inner tank diameter shall be 84”, outer tank diameter shall be 90”, and the overall height of the tank shall be 64”. The tank shall contain an inner and outer tank. The tank shall meet UL 142. The fuel oil tank shall be factory painted white in color. Approved equal to that listed in the basis of design shall be based on approval of VAMC and A/E. Refer to pictures and cut sheets below.

The contractor shall route rigid conduit with Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) within concrete cell-duct system underground from fuel oil tank to Boiler Plant (Approximately 450 yards). The contractor shall include ground penetrating radar in bid. See specification

231000/2.4/C/1-3 for additional information. The conduit shall be designated for monitoring and no other disciplines shall be permitted within conduit system.

The contractor shall route rigid conduit with Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) within concrete cell-duct system underground from fuel oil tank to Building No. 3 (Approximately 250 yards). The contractor shall include ground penetrating radar in bid. See specification

231000/2.4/C/1-3 for additional information. The conduit shall be designated for monitoring and no other disciplines shall be permitted within conduit system.

The fuel lines between the main fuel storage tank and the generator shall be double wall piping.

The routing of the fuel lines is the responsibility of the contractor to coordinate at site. See attachment 231000 (Facility Fuel Oil Systems) for additional information.

Response to 3b: The size of the new permanent diesel generator is 600KW / 750KVA. The size of the new above ground desiel fuel tanl serving the new generator is approximately 1,000 gallons. The temporary generator and associated day tank shall be the responsibility of the contractor to provide. The construction documents are detailed as to the scope and general guidelines for phasing. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to take this information and do a detailed phasing plan and determine the specifics for the temporary generator (size, fuel supply and duration determined by the contractor to be necessary to perform the scope and all work as specified and detailed on the contract documents.

4. Paragraph 2.5.D.2 (fuel piping system) of specification section 26 32 13 for Engine Generator states “ to provide necessary valves & gauges on supply & return line from the day tank to underground Storage tank” please clarify whether there is an existing underground diesel fuel storage tank if so please provide details/location of this tank & detail /routing for the new fuel lines (Supply & return).

Response: There is NO existing underground fuel tank. The new generator fuel storage tank to be installed under this contract shall be above ground. Any reference to an “Under Ground” fuel storage tank should ignored.

5. Note 11 on drawing 13.ES101 & Note 19 on drawing 13.EP502 indicate new 1200A, 3p, 4W

MTS (Manual Transfer switch) with quick connect outdoor. Please provide specification for this MTS.

Response: The contractor shall provide manual transfer switch (MTS) per note No. 11 on drawing 13.ES101.

6. Drawing 13.EP502 one line drawing shows ATS#EQ as 600A rated but whereas ATS schedule on the same drawing shows ATS#EQ as 800A rated. Please let us know which is correct.

Response: A 600amp ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) is correct.

7. Drawing 13.EP502: Please provide panel schedule for following replacement/New Panels:

B-13-ATTIC-P1 208/120V, 3P, 3W, 225A MLO
