Addendum No. 002 to Cass Tech Stadium Improvements
This document is Addendum No. 002 to the Drawings and Specifications for the Cass Tech Stadium Improvements project, a multi-sport field renovation undertaken by Detroit Public School District. The addendum supplements and amends the original contract documents and must be acknowledged in the bid form. The bid due date has been extended to Friday, August 28, 2026. The project involves comprehensive field improvements including synthetic turf installation with proper drainage base materials, shock pads, site benches with manufacturer-specified base connections, and a Southern Bleacher 2020 Silver Edition bleacher system. The addendum includes final project renderings specifying the intended field turf design and clarifications regarding site construction details, such as 4G Modified stone as the drainage base with finish stone overlay, field flat design with sloping stone base (minimum 8 inches in center, approximately 15 inches at perimeter), and finish brick matching existing brick piers on site. Pre-bid RFI questions were addressed on Friday, August 14, 2026, with no additional question-and-answer period included in this addendum.
The addendum revises multiple specification sections and drawing details. Section 012300 Alternates has been reissued with revisions to Alternates A-4, A-5, and a new Alternate A-6 added for annual turf maintenance investigation and costs. Drawing C6.0 includes notation regarding existing underground sanitary lines, shortened trench drain details to avoid light pole conflicts, corrected watermain and pipe labeling, and updated quantity tables. Electrical Drawings EPDS1.00 and EPS1.00 have revised hand holes and key notes. The addendum includes supplemental Southern Bleacher product information detailing various bleacher configurations ranging from 2 to 16 rows, with specifications for elevated and non-elevated angle frame models, seat counts, concrete pad sizes, and optional features such as ADA ramps, wheelchair seating, and pressbox installations. Team bench details are also provided, featuring extruded aluminum construction with clear-anodized finishes available in various lengths to accommodate eight or more players.

TO ALL BIDDERS:
This addendum supplements and amends the original drawings and specifications, and shall be taken into account in preparing proposals, and shall become a part of the contract documents. Receipt of this Addendum must be acknowledged in the Bid Form.
GENERAL
A. The bid due date is being extended to Friday August 28, 2026; see district provided procurement documents.
B. All questions in the form of pre-bid RFIs have been addressed through the districts procurement department on Friday August 14, 2026; no further question and answer is included in this addendum.
Clarifications
1. Per the site construction details on drawing C3.30; 4G Modified stone should be utilized as the drainage base with finish stone overtop.
2. Bidders should account for the field being flat with the base slopping below which will result in a tapper from center. The details included note 8” stone as a minimum depth in the center of the field which will result in approximately 15” of stone at the perimeter. Bidders are responsible for reviewing the stone base detailing and accounted for these noted conditions.
3. Per the site construction details on drawing C3.30; a shock pad below the turf is required, coordinate with specifications and the chosen turf manufacturers recommendations.
4. The design intent of the finish brick is to match the existing brick piers on site around the existing stadium; the awarded contractor will need to provide brick match options for review on-site with the owner.
5. Attached to this addendum is a sketch of the manufacturers base connection detailing for the site benches as noted within the RFI response.
6. Attached to this addendum is information about the 2020 Silver Edition bleacher system by
Southern Bleacher which has been approved as an acceptable product for bidding.
7. Attached to this addendum are final renderings of the project for reference that include the intended field turf design for bidding. Contractors are to include all costs associated with this provided turf design.

Since 1946, Southern Bleacher has set the standard for high school bleachers, college stadiums, fairgrounds, speedways and more.
Fans in every U.S. state and Canada cheer from Southern Bleacher grandstands.
With more than three million seats to our name in the past seven years alone, no one comes close to our experience. Financially sound with no influence from investors, our customers rest easy knowing we'll be here for decades to come.
By not outsourcing our aluminum or steel fabrication, we control both quality and schedule and a veteran project manager is your single point of contact, your advisor and ally, from your complimentary design through your stadium build and beyond.

Silver Edition Bleachers
Angle Frame Bleachers
15 ROW ELEVATED SILVER EDITION
2 ROW BACK TO BACK ANGLE FRAME
Southern Bleacher’s Silver Edition and Angle Frame bleachers ensure exceptional comfort for every spectator and are a solid investment.
SOUTHERN BLEACHER engineers its frame-type bleachers to meet the applicable code requirements. Quality controlled through an AISC approved facility and licensed welders, ensures safety for the spectator and peace of mind for every owner.
Southern Bleacher’s standard guardrail system meets major building codes. Unlike other guardrail systems that create large gaps, our system provides superior closure on both sides and the back to protect even the smallest fans. On our non-elevated units, the guardrail begins at the first row, which adds optimum protection to spectator seating.
Silver Edition frame-type bleachers provide code compliant aisles to allow spectators to move throughout the unit with ease. The sturdy handrails of smooth, anodized aluminum provide added support, and the contrasting color aluminum aisle nose clearly marks the steps and enhances the bleacher appearance.
Silver Edition units also address wheelchair bound fans. An optional 74-inch return landing is also available. The landing extends from the front walkway and allows the ramp to run perpendicular to the bleacher unit. The ramp has a 1 in 12 slope which meets ADA guidelines.
Seven decades of innovations in our industry makes Southern Bleacher your best choice for frame-type bleachers.
Utilize our experience to make your project be the best. After all, Southern Bleacher has the experience that you can trust.
