About this file

This is an Intent to Award document issued by the South Carolina Department of Corrections for solicitation 5400023589, issued on June 28, 2022, with an opening date of July 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM. The solicitation requests a plastic injection mold system for food lunch trays and lids to be used at Wateree River Farm. The project is a turnkey engagement requiring engineering design using Solidworks or equivalent 3D modeling software to modify existing tray and lid designs, including removal of the cutlery compartment, enlargement of adjacent compartments, correction of stacking features, and maintenance of existing footprint dimensions. The mold fabrication requires single-cavity molds for both the tray and lid constructed from steel P-20 material with cold runners, self-ejecting mechanisms without additional automation, and insertion of the South Carolina Department of Correction Agriculture Division seal. The molding systems must be compatible with the existing 1993 Cincinnati VT550-54 Plastic Injection Molding Machine currently in operation. All deliverables, including the 3D model, must be approved by the SCDC Agriculture Division prior to mold manufacturing, with samples of existing trays and lids available upon request.

The contract was awarded to TerBeek Molding & Tool, LLC of Peachtree City, Georgia for an evaluated and awarded amount of $124,000.00 for one lot. The award was initially posted on July 27, 2022, subsequently suspended on August 9, 2022, and reinstated on August 19, 2022, in accordance with SC Procurement Code 11-35-1520(10) allowing waiver of the notice of intended award and seven-business-day delay when only one response is received. The internal buyer was Myrtle deWerdt with Ruthie H. Bishop, CPPB serving as Director of Procurement.
