About this file
This document comprises structural plans for a bridge replacement and intersection improvement project managed by Palm Beach County, Florida, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation. The project involves the replacement of Bridge No. 934000, which spans the L-13 Canal at the intersection of CR 880 and Sam Senter Road. The new structure is a multi-span bridge consisting of five spans with lengths of 24'-0", 24'-0", 36'-6", 24'-0", and 24'-1", totaling 132'-7" in length. The bridge design includes prestressed concrete slab beams, prestressed concrete pile foundations, and cast-in-place concrete components. The structural plans document, dated November 5, 2024, and marked as Final Submittal, contains 95 sheets detailing every aspect of the bridge design including foundation layouts, superstructure details, reinforcing bar schedules, approach slabs, traffic railing specifications, and embedded conduit systems. The design was prepared by Stanley Consultants, Inc., with professional engineer Eric Huskey, P.E. (License No. 56593) serving as the Engineer of Record, and GCME, Inc., with professional engineer Partha Ghosh, P.E. (License No. 51377) providing additional structural oversight.
The structural plans specify design standards in accordance with FDOT FY 2024-25 Design Standards, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (8th Edition 2017), and the FDOT Structures Manual dated January 2024. Construction materials include Class II, IV, V, and VI concrete with strengths ranging from 3,400 to 8,500 psi, Grade 60 reinforcing steel, and ASTM A416 Grade 270 low-relaxation prestressing strands. The design accommodates HL93 live loading with dynamic load allowances and includes provisions for future wearing surfaces and construction loads. The plans detail 18-inch square prestressed concrete piles as the foundation system, with specifications for pile driving, splicing, and installation procedures. Additional design elements include 36-inch single-slope traffic railing systems, expansion joint details with poured joints and backer rods, approach slabs with flexible pavement provisions, and embedded conduit systems for future utilities. The project addresses environmental considerations related to the L-13 Canal, with specified hydraulic recommendations and slope protection using rubble riprap. Utility coordination is required prior to construction, with provisions for temporary relocation or de-energization of existing utilities and restoration to original conditions following completion.
