Gabion Tiebacks into Floodplain
No geotextile around gabions in tiebacks
While there is no compaction percentage that has to be met for backfill, Contractor shall ensure that backfill is tight and firm around gabions.
Pushing backfill soil into gabions is allowable.
Excavation shown assumes that trench box or shoring is not used. If either is used, only excavate what is required to place gabions.

Stop geotextile 3 inches from top of gabion and ensure that all geotextile is properly buried
Place geotextile between gabions and backfill along river
Fasten gabions and Reno mattresses together per Technical Specifications and manufacturer recommendations
Fill gabions and Reno mattresses with stone prior to backfilling behind them
Match top of Reno mattress with existing river bed elevation
After Reno mattresses and bottom gabion are complete, closed, and COR has provided clearance, spread river channel soil over mattresses. The fine material shall be spread so that all voids between stones are filled.
