8. DESCRIPTION OF WORK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED (Include Sketch of Plan, when appropriate) Replace Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and all associated detection devices (initiation devices i.e. smoke detectors, heat detectors, IR/UVIR devices, l:arbon monoxide detectors, manual pull stations, flow switches, duct detectors etc.), and all Notification appliances. FACP must be capable of dual reporting or all signals processed by the control equipment. Communications protocol shall be ID Contact. Also FACP must be capable of communicating using the

�xisting POTS dial up system provided on Vandenberg AFB.

All equipment will be to a non-proprietary open architecture standard. In addition all work will performed in accordance with all applicable NFPA standards lruch as NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 13, NEC 70 and UFC 3-600-01 and UFC 3-601-02 (Latest Editions).

Facility may or may not require the installation of a Mass Notification system. If so all equipment will be to a non-proprietary open architecture standard. In ad<frtion all work will performed In accordance with all applicable NFPA standards such as NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 13, NEC 70 and UFC 4-021-01 and

9. BRIEF JUSTIFICATION FOR WORK TO BE ACCOMPLISHED

The existing FACP has exceeded its useful life expectancy and is no longer supported by the manufacturer. This equipment has been in place for approximately 25 years and is becoming too expensive to maintain in its current condition. Also the level of fire protection is being degraded by its excessive age.
