a. Include the cost of all work required for:
1) Clearing and grubbing
2) Excavation within the canal
3) Disposal of excavated materials not suitable for construction
4) Processing
5) Traffic Control, if needed
6) Furnishing free draining material (Class 1 aggregate base course)
7) Hauling
8) Placing and compacting earth materials.
9) Placing CLSM for temporary termination anchor trench for end of Phase 1 as shown on Drawing No. 519-417-59.
10) Placing and compacting fill in anchor trenches for the geotextile and PVC canal lining as shown on Drawing No. 519-417-53.
11) Reestablishing existing delivery ditches on the left side of the canal that are disturbed during construction and establishing new field ditches on the right side of the canal to carry water to the drain inlets.
12) Replacing PVC delivery pipelines damaged during construction or relocating the delivery pipeline as required.
31 23 11 - 2
a) A specific delivery pipeline that exists is an 8-inch PIP pipe that located at approximate Sta. 35+50 for a length of approximately 150 feet. The pipeline is likely to be damaged during construction of the O&M road as the road begins at the existing driveway and shared road as it is transitioned in grade and alignment back to a typical canal O&M road.
b. Overexcavation performed beyond specified or directed paylines shall be at the expense of the Contractor.
c. No payment will be made for excavation or removal of material which is outside the specified or directed pay lines unless such excavation or removal is directed by the COR.
d. If in the opinion of the COR, the subgrade at the planned cut is suitable for construction of the new canal lining, the Contractor will not be required to remove this material.
e. If in the opinion of the COR, the subgrade beyond 6-inch depth is unsuitable, the COR will direct the Contractor to perform Additional Excavation.
3. Estimated Quantities: The estimate based on neatlines shown on the drawings and/or using a computer-generated surface model of the project is shown in the table below.
a. Excavation for the Typical Canal Section is shown on Drawing No. 519- 417-53 and 54.

1) Column A, Waste Excavation Material:
a) Quantities are based on an estimated varying depth of concrete chunks, boulders, and cobble greater than 6 inches along the alignment of the canal to be hauled to and dumped along the alignment of the Florida Canal O&M road south of Pastorius Reservoir. Locations of placements will be directed by C shown in Section 51 00 00 1.03.
b) Volumes shown in Column A also include intermixed volumes of sand, gravel, and cobbles smaller than 6 inches.
The contractor may screen this material to be used as fill below the Class 1 aggregate base layer and outside the canal prism. The Government estimates that 1,200 of the 3,636 cubic yards from Column A could be screened and used as fill.
c) Cobble and riprap from Column A may also be used for earth transition from Sta. 1+00 to 1+10. Minimum riprap and cobble shall be 6-inch D50.
31 23 11 - 4
2) Column B, Total Fill Required:
a) Quantities include the material needed to fill the typical canal section up to the subgrade of the free draining material after excavation of Column A.
3) Column C, Excavation Material Capable of Being Used from Required Excavation:
a) Quantities include in-situ material that is to be excavated to shape the typical canal prism and is assumed to be acceptable fill material.
b) Quantities do not include material from Column A, therefore, total estimated excavation is Column A and Column C combined.
c) Excludes the volume of excavation required for drain inlet trenches, liner anchor trenches, and canal underdrain trench.
d) Quantities listed in Column C do not include possible waste material from screening.
4) Column D, Net Balance
a) Quantities are the difference between Column B and Column C. A negative (-) quantity denotes more fill material is available than required for that section, and a positive quantity denotes that fill will need to be imported for the section.
b) Quantities do not include material from Column A.
b. Total free draining material for the Typical Canal Section shown on Drawing No. 519-417-53:
1) Approximately: 3,266 cubic yards.
B. Canal Underdrain:
1. Measurement: Length along pipe invert. Excludes lengths of horizontal directional drilling.
2. Payment: Linear feet price offered in Price Schedule.
a. The unit price shall include all cost of labor, equipment and materials (unless otherwise specified) for:
