Gulf Islands National Seashore—Solicitation# 140P5221Q0016 Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 09:00 AM (CST)
Q1) There are no shingles over the ridge vent with louvers on the roofs at the NLO Group Camp and NOL Picnic restrooms. Do you need shingle over the ridge vent with louvers installed on these buildings?
A1) No shingle over ridge vents will be required for the buildings that do not currently have ridge vents. NLO Picnic Area Restroom and Pavilion and NLO Group Camp Restroom and Pavilion do not need to have ridge vents.
Q2) Scott mentioned to remove and reinstall lightning protection where it exists.
Please confirm buildings which need lightning protection, and must it be certified?
A2) Lightning protection equipment currently exists on the Park Headquarters and the Fire Cache buildings. This equipment will need to be removed and reinstalled. National Park Service request a Quote for separate line items:
Bid Option 1 to have the lighting protection inspected, and Bid Option 2 to have lightning protection (aerial rods) installed and inspected for all 6 buildings. Apparently, aerial rods on four bldgs. were previously removed and shingle over without re-installation of lightning protection devices.
Q3) Do you need the gutters and downspouts replaced or just removed and reattached after shingle roof is completed?
A3) The gutters and downspouts Do Not need to be replaced. Removal and reinstallation will be required to replace drip edge flashing.
Q4) Please confirm the color of shingles and drip edge. The existing shingle color appears to be Hickory.
A4) Shingle and drip edge color will match as close as possible with the existing colors. Hickory or similar brown color for 5 of the buildings, and an Oyster Gray or similar color to match existing shingles and drip edge on the Fire Cache.
