C. Include two complete sets of hard-covered ring bound loose leaf Operation and
Maintenance Manuals (See Section 01700)
1.5 PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. The system is comprised of three wells (one new and two existing) which will feed an existing water storage tanks (The new well is located approximately 300 feet from the existing water treatment building.
Well capacity is as follows:
1. Well 1= 5-7 gpm
2. Well 2= 2-4 gpm
3. Well 3= TBDm
Well 1 is currently connected to the existing water treatment plant. Well 2 is also connected directly to the water treatment plant via a separate transmission line.
Well 3 which is to be located within 75 feet of well one shall be connected to the existing transmission line.
Well 1 shall alternate lead/lag positions with Well 3. Well 2 shall be used as emergency well pump and shall be shown on the control panel as alternate with a HOA switch and the ability to run on a timer. The system shall be configured to allow only one well to run at a time during normal operations but with the option to run three wells at a time in emergency situations.
B. The controls shall control well pumps by providing tank level status, level set points, pump status, well liquid level status and set points, and alarm history. The control panel shall indicate high and low tank level alarms. Provide an alarm history with the time, date, and type of fault.
C. The system shall interface with the pressure transducer or floats at the water storage tank. All signals shall be received at the control panel in the existing treatment building. The signals shall be as follows
1. High level alarm
2. Low level alarm
3. Lead pump (s) on
4. Lag pumps (s) on
5. Pump (s) off
D. The signals and alarms from the water tank shall be sent to the treatment building control panel. The three control signals are lead pump on, lag pump on, and pump off. The lead pump on control signal shall energize the lead pump (s), while the lag pump level control shall energize the lag pump (s). The pump off shall de-energize all well pumps. Well 2 pump shall be controlled at the treatment building via an HOA and timer. Control scenarios for lead/lag operation are as follows:
1. The pump cycle for well pumps 1 and 3 shall have an adjustable run time between 6-48 hours. If the maximum run time has been reached for that pump and there is still a call for water, the pump that is running shall de-energize and the other pump will be energized.
2. If the well pump in lead position is running and the water level in the tank drops below the lag position the lag pump shall be energized.
The two alarms shall be a low level alarm and high level alarm. The low level alarm shall activate when the level in the tank drops below a set point. The high level alarm shall activate when the level in the tank exceeds a high level set point.
Both alarms shall display on the control panel.
Control for the new well (well pump 3) shall be hard wired to the control panel at the treatment building. Wells pumps 2 and 3 are currently wired to the water treatment building. These pumps shall be connected to the new control panel at the water treatment building. The well pump control panels shall have on/off and auto modes. Off will cut power to the pump. On will provide power to the pump.
In auto mode, the Control Panel/ PLC at the treatment building shall control the well pumps.
Well Pump indication at the treatment building shall include the following:
“running” indication, run timers and cycle counters.
1.6 TRAINING
A. Training program shall educate operators and maintenance personnel with the required level of system familiarity to provide a common working knowledge concerning all significant aspects of the system being supplied.
B. System supplier shall provide training of all equipment installed, including set up, operation, troubleshooting and set point reconfiguration.
C. System supplier shall provide all instructional course material, equipment and manuals to conduct the training program. Training shall be held on site.
1.7 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
A. All components shall be new, unused and UL listed.
B. The control panel shall be fabricated in accordance to UL 508.
C. All wiring shall be numbered and color-coded.
1.8 ACCEPTANCE
A. Work covered by this section shall not be accepted until testing connected with this work has been completed satisfactorily.
B. Work found defective in performance shall be corrected.
