SCOPE OF WORK (SOW) Rev 1 Project: Replace Roof on USDA Potato Research Building, East Grand Forks MN
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Prepare existing roof to receive Poly ISO insulation to achieve an
R-Value of 35 or greater. Provide and install a Low Profile Metal Over Metal (LPMOM) standing seam a new roofing system solution on existing 116’ X 160’ facility in accordance with the recommendations of the National Roofing and Contractors Association Roofing and Waterproofing Manual, Factory Mutual Guidelines, ASTM Specifications and Tests and Methods, National Bureau of Standards, and Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
2.0 Background: This roof at this facility is approximately 18,600 square feet and was built in 1966. The building has a combination of single ply membrane (5,850 square feet) and metal (12,750 square feet) roofs. The membrane is showing blister and ponding and the metal roof is showing corrosion.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
A. Remove existing vinyl roof system which includes a single layer of membrane and spray foam insulation. Existing roof consists of 5” layering of insulation and spray foam that appears to be in good condition and may be used as part of the R-value calculation.
B. Install PolyIso Insulation in a minimum of 2 layers enough insulation to achieve a minimum R-value of 35. Small amount of tapering required.
C. Install new low profile metal over metal (LPMOM) standing seam roof roofing system.
D. Work around existing roof mounted equipment.
1. Allow 8 hours of work by a plumber and electrician to raise the air handler unit curb approximately 1’.
E. Properly seal all openings.
F. Provide new flashing at ridge, eaves and gable ends of building.
G. Replace gutters and drain spouts.
H. Provide a safety plan addressing the safety methods used while on the roof of the building. Plan must be submitted and approved by the COR and/or CO prior to construction.
I. Provide 20 year warranty from Roofing Manufacturer on installation and materials. If 20 year warranty cannot be provided, include the reasoning and specify what kind of warranty can be included with materials and labor.
J. Provide a 2 year Contractor’s warranty on installation.
K. Provide and install a new roof hatch to replace the existing one.
L. Remove and discard existing unit setting on top of steel roof.
4.0 Government Furnished: Photographs of roof areas are shown in attachment 1, Existing Roof Photographs. Original roof blueprints are available on site for review.

7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel:
A. On site Superintendent’s name required. A competent person shall be on site at all times during construction and show proof of OSHA 30 trained.
B. Operator’s certification or license on equipment that operates over buildings or personnel.
8.0 Security Requirements: All personnel shall have a U.S. photo ID, such as U.S.
Driver’s License, or U.S. passport.
9.0 Data Rights: Not applicable.
10.0 Section 508 – Electronic and Information Technology Standards: All electronic documentation to be submitted in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
