Design/Build Project Mena Ranger District

Ouachita National Forest Polk County, Arkansas

Project Location:

This hypothetical project is located on the Mena Ranger District approximately 8 miles southwest of Mena, AR on a level 3 Forest System Road; it is a 14’ wide and gravel surfaced. A geotechnical investigation of the crossing area and nearby pit has been completed, as have hydraulics/hydrology and the preliminary engineering report, which would all be made available to you.

Work Description:

The project consists of designing and constructing a low water concrete bridge to replace a flood damaged hardened crossing. The project includes removing existing concrete slab, providing new reinforced concrete low water structure, clearing, aggregate, replacing culverts, removing debris, placing riprap, and seeding disturbed areas.

Plans and Specifications:

The standard specifications for this project will be Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects (FP-14). A copy of the FP-14 Standard Specifications can be obtained from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
