Solicitation 12639522R0015, Fire Alarm Upgrade, Phoenix Rearing Facility Questions and Answers:

Q: Spec Sec 284621.11-5 2.1 New system shall be non-proprietary. Can you confirm the purpose of this requirement? Non proprietary is a loaded question in the idea that real non proprietary system do not require technicians to have training on the system, meaning anyone can install it. Edwards is proprietary in the means it requires training to install and program, but there are several companies that work on it in the Phoenix area.

A: Here is a list of nonproprietary systems. Any NICET certified installer can work on these systems. This is nothing new as we have done this for multiple federal and nonfederal clients and never had this question.

3 major Nonproprietary Manufacturers Silent Knight Kiddie Fire Lite

A HLI Connection, prints do not show a vesda system, can you confirm there is one and from my knowledge the HLI is usually monitored through a computer, the fire alarm monitors contacts directly on the Vesda panel.
