Phoenix Rearing Facility Fire alarm upgrade Facility walkthrough Questions 02-23-22

1. Who has jurisdiction over building?

a. City of Phoenix

2. Must we get city of Phoenix permits?

a. Yes

3. Which agency needs to have approval (state or federal)?

a. City of Phoenix Fire Dept

4. Can a small business contractor higher a bigger business?

a. Yes

5. What are the specs on ceiling tiles (new and old)?

a. Do not have specs—match existing

6. Are there any kind of abatement?

a. None that we are aware of

7. Can we get in the attics?

a. There appears to us to be at least one, maybe two production rooms with no clear existing access to the attic. Previous work has required an attic access hatch to be created in one of the production rooms. Any such accesses are contractor responsibility.

8. Are there any mezzanines or elevators?

a. No

9. Are there going to be 2 locations for Fire Alarm Remote Annunciator (FARA)?

a. Yes ---One at main entrance and one in maintenance shop

10. Some conduits are exposed, and some are not, do the new installs have to be behind the wall?

a. To be concealed where possible. If in an office area, break area, etc., we would expect to be concealed

11. Is it acceptable to run conduit outside (exposed) the wall if it meets code?

a. Yes – see #10

12. What are the working hours going to be?

a. 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. Mon – Sat. Additional hours after 2 p.m. can be made available, subject to discussion. No overnight hours will be permitted.

13. Is it Monday through Friday or can we work through the weekends?

a. See 12.

14. Can we get as built blueprints of the building?

a. Limited as-builts are available on paper at the facility.
