Solicitation 12639518R0035 RFIs and Responses
1. Is a standard galvanized interior casing sufficient, or does it need to be aluminum or stainless? Exhaust air ductwork from the two fume hoods shall be stainless steel fully welded.
Galvanized steel ductwork from rest of the building is acceptable.
2. Do the coils, fans, dampers, or aluminum plate HX need to have any type of coating? All coils exposed to ambient, including ERU-3, ERU-4 coils in supply and exhaust airstream, AHU-2 coils, reheat coils, controlled environment chamber condensing unit coils, split AC system condensing unit coil, shall be provided with e-coating (cathodic epoxy electrodisposition coating).
3. Is there any concern with hazardous conditions in the EA to require explosion proof motors? No
4. Is any special filtration needed, beyond standard 2” MERV 8 filters, before the high plume nozzle discharge of the unit? MERV 8 filter in exhaust airstream is sufficient. MERV 14 in addition to MERV 8 filters are required in the supply airstream.
5. Do you need any special airflow monitoring anywhere in the unit? Airflow measurement stations are required for both supply and exhaust airstreams. See sheet M-701.
6. Will you need a bleed air inlet damper, in case of variable air volume from the lab space, to maintain a constant air flow discharge from the unit? The high plume exhaust fan’s windband takes air from ambient and mixes it with exhaust from exhaust air from the building to maintain constant discharge airflow. No additional bleed air damper is required.
7. On Drawing A-110, there is an equipment schedule for Lab equipment to be CFCI. However, nowhere in the specs or the drawings show the individual specifications for the equipment to be supplied. Can the Government please confirm the individual specifications, as well as any options for each piece of Lab equipment to be supplied and installed by the Contractor?
The equipment listed on Sheet A110 are the two fume hoods and the two autoclaves. Both items are covered in Division 11.
8. Project specification contain Section 26 41 00 Lightning Protection System. However, on the project plans there is no referenced to lightning Protection. Is lightning protection required and if so what is the scope of work? The Lightning Protection specification was included as part of the project specifications that included all three phases. However, it only applies to Bldg 1365 as part of Phase 2 and is not applicable for Bldg 1398 – Phase 3.
9. What/Who is the Basis of Design for AHU-2? Trane.
10. What/Who is the Basis of Design for the Re-Heat Coils? Trane.
11. EL103 shows light fixtures that appear to be 1x4 but doesn't call out a "Type" of fixture.
Keynote #1 leads me to believe these are new and not existing. See approved submittal from a previous project below.
12. The general notes on ES101 state we are to bring CAT6 drops back room 12A (Phase B). Some of these drops are 300+ ft away which could run us into some problems. Cat 6 caps out at 300' of total distance before it will not work anymore. The drops in the CER rooms aren't being touched by us so those don't matter, but there are several others that do.
The final routing of Cat6 horizontal cables shall be field coordinated to maintain lengths less than 295ft. Where field conditions do permit lengths less than 295ft, provide an Ethernet extender above ceiling to extend Cat6 cabling to outlet locations. Provide 120V receptacles as required for power connection to repeaters.

TECHNICAL DATA
Lam ps
Designed specifically for emergency lighting applications, the PAR 36 12V sealed-beam type design insures optimum glare-free trapezoidal light distribution along with horizontal and vertical adjustment by rotating the lens within the housing.
H ous i ng
The subtly detailed Model CC-7 housing is constructed of flame-retardant and impact-resistant polycarbonate in a color-stable designer-white finish. All electrical components are securely attached in the housing and prewired for fast AC connection. The housing snaps on to the hinged mounting plate with two integral locking tabs. The mounting plate has keyhole mounting slots and a universal mounting pattern for quick, efficient installation. The housing contains knockouts/cutouts for surface conduit attachment. All structural components are designed with reinforcing ribs to add additional rigidity and to maximize structural integrity.
L i ne -La tch ed
Sure-Lites’ line-latched electronic circuitry makes installation easy and economical. A labor efficient AC-activated load switch prevents the lamps from turning on during installation to a non-energized AC circuit. Line-latching eliminates the need for a contractor’s return to a job site to connect the batteries when the building’s main power is permanently turned on.
So l i d -Sta te Charg er
Supplied with a 120/277 VAC, voltage regulated solid-state charger. Immediately upon restoration of AC current after a power failure, the charger provides a high charge rate. The charge circuit reacts to the condition of the battery and alters the rate of charge in order to maintain peak battery capacity and maximize battery life. Solid-state construction recharges the battery following a power failure in accordance with
UL 924.
O ver l o ad an d Sh o rt C i r cu i t P ro tec t i on
The solid-state overload monitoring device in the DC circuit disconnects the lamp load from the battery should excessive wattage demands be made and automatically resets when the overload or short circuit is removed. This overload current protective feature eliminates the need for fuses or circuit breakers for the DC load.
Brow n o u t C i r cu i t
The brownout circuit in Sure-Lites units monitors the flow of AC current to the unit and activates the emergency lighting system when a predetermined reduction of AC power occurs. This dip in voltage will cause most ballasted fixtures to extinguish causing loss of normal lighting even though a total power failure has not occurred.
So l i d -Sta te Trans fer
The unit incorporates a solid-state switching transistor which eliminates corroded and pitted contacts or mechanical failures associated with relays. The switching circuit is designed to detect a loss of AC voltage and automatically energizes the lamps.
Upon restoration of the AC power, the emergency lamps will switch off and the charger will automatically recharge the battery.
Low -Vo l tage D i sconne c t
When the battery’s terminal voltage falls below 80% of the rated voltage, the low-voltage circuitry disconnects the lighting load. The disconnect remains in effect until normal utility power is restored, preventing deep battery discharge.
Test Sw i tch/Pow er I nd i ca to r L i g h t
Conveniently located combination Test Switch/Power Indicator Light allows for manual verification of proper operation of the transfer circuit and emergency lamps. The emergency lamps will test for 30 seconds when activated.
Photoce l l Tes t Sw i tch
Allows verification of proper operation of the transfer circuit and emergency lamps with a laser pointer (laser is sold as an accessory). The emergency lamps will test for 30 seconds when activated.*
Sea l ed Lead -Ca l c i um Bat te ry
The fully sealed, long-life, maintenance-free, lead-calcium battery is ideal for emergency lighting applications. These recombinant cycle batteries typically provide eight to ten years of life and may be operated in any position.
Sea l ed N i cke l Cad mi u m Bat te ry
Sure-Lites sealed nickel cadmium batteries are maintenance-free with a life expectancy of 15 years. The sealed rechargeable nickel cadmium battery utilizes positive and negative sintered plate construction which offers high discharge rates and stable performance over a wide range of temperatures. The specially designed resealable vent automatically controls cell pressure, assuring safety and reliability. This battery is best suited for harsh ambient temperatures because the electrolyte is not active in the electrochemical process. The nickel cadmium battery can be operated from 0°C to 50°C.
Warran ty
All Sure-Lites units are backed by a firm one-year warranty against defect in material and workmanship (excluding lamps). Maintenance-free, long-life, sealed lead calcium batteries carry a five-year Pro-Rata warranty.
* Minor position adjustment of photocell sensor may be required if mounted in locations with high ambient light.

The charge circuit reacts to the condition of the battery and regulates the charging process in order to maintain peak battery capacity and maximize battery life. Solid-state construction recharges the battery following a power failure in accordance with UL 924.
Brownout Circuit
The brownout circuit on Sure- Lites’ exits monitors the flow of AC current to the exit and activates the emergency lighting system when a predetermined reduction of AC power occurs.
This dip in voltage will cause most ballasted fixtures to extinguish causing loss of normal lighting even though a total power failure has not occurred.
Sol id-State Transfer
The LPXH Series Exits incorporates solid-state switching which eliminates corroded and pitted contacts or mechanical failures associated with relays. The switching circuit is designed to detect a loss of AC voltage and automatically energizes the lamps using DC power.
