Questions for 12405B22Q0095

1. Item (6) in statement of Work-Extend hot water supply to new sink. There are two sinks currently at the lab. Is the sink location proposed to be altered?

There are currently 4 sinks in the work room. The sink location will be altered. See the attached Loc Scientific cabinet diagram.

2. Item (8) modify water & electrical to suit new casework. Is new casement different than existing layout?

The new casement/cabinetry will be different than existing layout. See the attached Loc Scientific cabinet diagram.

3.Item (13) New epoxy flooring only required for Lab portion (22.7'x17.9') and not for adjacent mill area The new epoxy flooring is only required for the Work Room/Lab portion of the building. HOWEVER, at the door that allows passage from the Work Room/Lab to the mill room, the epoxy flooring will need to taper from the epoxy flooring in Work Room/Lab to the concrete floor in the mill room.

4. As the existing concrete pad is large enough, it would make sense to utilize this existing large equipment pad and safety bollards for the new HVAC unit. May the contractor install the second Mini-Split HVAC equipment on the existing concrete pad adjacent to the existing unit, versus installing an additional concrete or engineered composite pad?

FROM THE SOW - The contractor shall purchase and install two new mini-split air-condition units; sized adequately to keep the lab at the required temperatures. Please contact the location monitor and the Research leader to determine where the new air-conditioning units will be installed. We do not have a problem with locating the mini-split units on the existing equipment pad. However, the refrigerant lines will be longer and the new electrical circuit will be longer.

5. If the above requested method is not acceptable, and an additional designated pad is preferred, is the new pad to be a raised pad or be flush with existing grade?

If a new pad is used, please raise it 4" above existing grade. It will eventually sink.

6. Is the existing ceiling grid system to be replaced?

Reuse the existing grid.

7. Are there restroom facilities available for contractor usage?

The AO or the RL will make the determination if the Sugarcane Field Stations restroom facilities will be available to the contractor.

8. Reference is made to offerors submitting “attached EMR information and certification form” (p. 37/39, Q0095 Construction Clauses and Provisions). However, no such form appears to be included among the documents posted on SAM.gov. Please advise.

This information shall be obtained from the Offeror’s insurance carrier and be furnished on the insurance carrier’s letterhead.
