FR 76 Cranberry River-North Fork Bridge Replacement.

Questions from Pre-Bid on site Meeting on 06/29/2020.

1. Will there be shop plans provided for the replacement bridge?

A. The contractor is responsible for the new bridge procurement and will have to have submit Structural plans as necessary in Required Submittals in the solicitation.

2. Is the new bridge supplied by the Forest Service?

A. The contractor shall provide the new bridge meeting the contract specifications.

3. What is the width of the bridge (South Fork) above this one’s width?

A. Inspection report says 11’.

4. What is the weight of the North Fork Bridge?

A. Our Engineer has an approximate weight of half of the bridge at 30,000 lbs.

5. What is the weight limit of the North Fork Bridge?

A. We have the bridge closed Zero tons, it was posted at 5 tons and we had to close it.

6. Are there shop drawing for the North Fork Bridge?

A. There are some shop drawing and they can be provided to be used by the Contractor. I am taking pictures of these to be attached.

7. Can you work in the water?

A. No stream work will be permitted with heavy equipment. The contractor may utilize scaffolding or other permissible methods.

8. Can trees be removed?

A. Trees can be removed or trimmed to allow for safety or equipment function. These trees will have to be designed by the contractor and approved by the COR prior to a physical activity being done.

9. What is the bridge height to the new one?

A. The new bridge travel way height will have to be similar to the old travel way height. Roadbed heights can be adjusted to accommodate the new bridge but only in minor form.

10. Do we have to maintain pedestrian traffic?

A. Pedestrian traffic will always have to be allowed. They shall be allowed access to the bridge while it is in place and safe for them to cross. After that they shall be give a clear foot path to navigate the waterway for passage to FR 76.

11. What about the Bypass statement in the solicitation?

A. The comment in the solicitation for a bypass and its requirement was a copy and paste mistake and will be removed. There is no bypass required in the contract.

12. Travel way width of existing bridge and new bridge?

A. The new bridge is to be 13’ from face of rail to face of rail, that is a minimum, page 6 of plans.

13. What bridge companies have you used in the past?

14. How many pieces can the existing/old North Fork Bridge be removed in?

A. This is for the contractor to determine. See attached plans.

15. Will there be camping allowed?

A. Contractor would be able to set up a camp keeping it as small as possible at the liming station parking area but must be kept neat and clean.

16. Will there be any permits required to be gotten by the contractor?

A. No. The contractor is still required to call Miss Utility to check for utilities.
