PROJECT

The scope of this project will be to provide all the labor, materials, tools and equipment, insurance, and bonding necessary, but not limited to completing the Sandy City 2026 Crack Seal Project, located within the City’s limits. The work includes Pavement Crack Sealing. These items are described further in the project plans and specifications.

SCOPE OF WORK

The project consists of 275 street segments and 0 parking lots (see included list). Streets are to be crack sealed with approved material (submittal required). Crack seal material is to meet specifications as outlined in APWA Section 32 01 17.

Cracks are to be clean and dry. Remove foreign matter and loose particles with compressed air. Overfill cracks and squeegee surface to form a band-aid. Streets with “alligator cracking” are to have all major cracks filled and up to 60% of minor cracks filled. The contractor is to crack seal along edges of waterways, manhole collars, and along edges of asphalt patches when present. When cooled, cracks should be flush with roadway surface, any “sinkers” are to be revisited by the contractor. All streets will be inspected by a Sandy City Public Works inspector for approval.

The Contractor is required to provide a traffic control plan and is responsible for all traffic control (signage, devices, etc.) needed for this project. In addition, a work permit is required to work in the City’s right-of-way. Submit the traffic control plan as part of the permit requirements (no cost). Contact Monica Petersen 801-568-2964 for details and questions regarding the permit. Note that a separate vehicle with an arrow-board must be used to trail behind the work area to assist with diverting traffic on all arterial roadways (multi-lane roadways).

Work operations are between the hours 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. All traffic control and road closures shall be completed and reopened by 7:00 PM. Work hours will be strictly enforced. Due to traffic and parking issues, the contractor may need to work some weekends, in order to complete the street list and parking lots. All weekend work is to be coordinated with and approved by the engineer.

Due to the time of the year, the contractor shall put forth a “good-faith” effort to complete the project requirements or until the weather no longer permits for proper working conditions. The City is expecting to have a minimum of 50% of the contract completed prior to any suspension due to weather and allow the Contractor to return in the spring to complete any unfinished work. The City also reserves the right to end the contract at the time of suspension if deemed necessary.
