Show data table MCP tool
Render a compact read-only table. Minimal inline: {"rows":[{"name":"Example","count":3}]}. Or use {"search_results_id":"..."} from a typed Search_* tool without copying rows. IDs, labels and columns default; optional columns control dates/numbers, explicit currency/percent units and GovTribe record links. Sorting, search and pagination operate only on loaded rows, never the full underlying search. Reference hydration replays the original bounded page under current authorization and normal search usage metering. Use typed search tools for search-wide operations.
- MCP tool name:
Show_Data_Table - Returns: Show data table MCP response
- Annotations: Read only, not destructive, idempotent, closed world
- Surfaces: GovTribe AI, GovTribe MCP, GovTribe Compact MCP server
Examples
Use this table for a dense list that benefits from column sorting, text search or pagination. Use a short Markdown table when those controls add little value. The app is read-only and returns no submitted selection or approval.
Minimal inline data
{
"tool": "Show_Data_Table",
"arguments": {"rows": [{"name": "Illustrative opportunity", "count": 12}]}
}Supply rows or search_results_id, never both. rows: [] displays an empty table. Presentation IDs are generated; titles and descriptions are optional. Columns default from up to 20 scalar row fields, with labels derived from keys. Metadata fields are omitted from default columns when other display fields exist. Include columns to show nested fields with dot paths or select a narrower set. Inline mode accepts at most 1,000 rows.
Reuse a typed-search reference
{
"tool": "Show_Data_Table",
"arguments": {"search_results_id": "<search_results_id>"}
}Use a reference returned by a typed Search_* tool. The first hydration fetches the original bounded result page, its selected fields and its search ordering. It fetches current data, so records may have changed since the search; it does not reuse a stored row snapshot. Legacy references without supported replay information fail with instructions to run the typed search again.
The app shows the source page, loaded-row count and underlying total matches separately. Sort, search and local pages apply only to the loaded source page. They do not sort or search all matches. pageSize defaults to 10 and controls local pages only, with a maximum of 100.
Fetch previous search page and Fetch next search page replace loaded rows with another source page while preserving stored filters, selected fields, source page size and search ordering. Local sort, query and page reset after a successful source fetch. Each fetch checks current OAuth/data access and workspace context, and uses normal typed-search admission and usage metering. A failed fetch leaves the previous page visible with an error. Full-search filter or ordering changes require a new typed search; use Open full search when available to continue in GovTribe.
Display record links, dates and explicit financial units
{
"tool": "Show_Data_Table",
"arguments": {
"rows": [{"name": "Illustrative award", "govtribe_url": "https://govtribe.com/award/example", "obligations": 1200, "awarded": "2026-10-23"}],
"columns": [
{"key": "name", "linkKey": "govtribe_url"},
{"key": "obligations", "label": "Obligated dollars", "format": "currency", "currency": "USD"},
{"key": "awarded", "format": "date"}
]
}
}Column key is required; label defaults from the key. Formats are text, number, date, currency or percent; decimal precision is optional. Plain numbers never imply dollars. Currency requires an explicit three-letter currency; percent requires basis: "fraction" for 0.37 or basis: "unit" for 37. Keep financial measures accurate, such as obligations versus ceiling. Numeric and ISO-date fields have default display formatting. Missing cells display a dash.
Name/title columns link through govtribe_url by default. An explicit linkKey can point to another field containing a GovTribe URL. Links open through the host and retain GovTribe's normal access checks. Other origins and unsafe URLs render as text. Narrow tables scroll horizontally.
