Show data table MCP response

MCP tool response returned by the Show data table MCP tool.

Response Shape

The advertised output schema describes the normalized presentation payload. Every successful response includes a non-null id and pageSize, including when the caller omits them. Exactly one non-null source is supplied: inline rows, or a typed-search reference that the app hydrates through Load_Data_Table.

FieldTypeNotes
idstringAlways present; generated presentation identifier when omitted.
rowsobject[]Supplied inline rows, including an empty array. Absent in reference mode.
search_results_idstring or nullTyped-search replay reference in reference mode. Absent or explicitly null in inline mode.
columnsobject[] or nullOptional display overrides with key, normalized label, format, explicit units and linkKey. Supplied columns receive default labels when omitted.
title, descriptionstring or nullOptional display text.
pageSizeintegerAlways present; local rows per table page from 1–100, defaults to 10.

A valid empty inline result:

{"id":"table_empty","rows":[],"pageSize":10}

A reference response has no hydrated rows yet:

{"id":"table_reference","search_results_id":"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa","pageSize":10}

Explicit numeric, financial and date values keep their units, with normalized column labels:

{
  "id": "financial-table",
  "rows": [{"obligations":1200,"share":37,"awarded_on":"2026-10-23"}],
  "columns": [
    {"key":"obligations","label":"Obligations","format":"currency","currency":"USD","decimals":2},
    {"key":"share","label":"Share","format":"percent","basis":"unit"},
    {"key":"awarded_on","label":"Awarded On","format":"date"}
  ],
  "pageSize": 2
}

Follow-up Behavior

This read-only table produces no selection, receipt or approval. The display labels operations as applying to loaded rows only. See Load data table MCP response for reference-mode hydration and source pagination.

Example

{"id":"table_generated","rows":[{"name":"Illustrative opportunity","count":12}],"pageSize":10}
