About this award
This federal Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs provides $266,750 to support the presentation of American films at the 17th anniversary of the Vienna-based International Human Rights Film Festival "This Human World". The grant, awarded under the Public Diplomacy Programs (CFDA 19.040) on September 25, 2024, will enable the non-profit organization This Human World KG to curate and showcase American cinematic works that explore significant human rights themes. The festival, scheduled to coincide with International Human Rights Day from November 27 through December 8, 2024, serves as a cultural diplomacy platform to inform and engage foreign audiences in Austria about critical global human rights narratives through American films. This consistent federal funding, awarded annually from 2020 to 2024, demonstrates the organization's success in leveraging its film festival programming to promote mutual understanding and advance U.S. national interests through cultural exchange.
