- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded The Children's Hospital Corporation (doing business as Boston Children's Hospital) $825,533 for Project Grant R01HL182745 on September 1, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837). The project investigates glycorna-based control of angiogenesis through heparan sulfate binding growth factors. Research focuses on how vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) orchestrates vascular and cardiac development by binding...
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded The Children's Hospital Corporation, doing business as Boston Children's Hospital, $516,458 on September 1, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) for Project Grant R01HL187595. The funded research investigates mechanisms of somatic rescue in Fanconi Anemia, a prototypical inherited bone marrow failure syndrome characterized by deficiency in DNA interstrand crosslink repair. The project examines how some...
- Federal Grant Award Summary Boston Children's Hospital received a $267,000 Project Grant award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837), effective August 1, 2025, with completion anticipated by July 31, 2027. The award funds research to identify shared molecular mechanisms underlying congenital heart disease (CHD) and neurodevelopmental delay and disability (NDD) by characterizing dysregulated gene expression in...
- Federal Grant Award Summary Boston Children's Hospital received a $279,644 Project Grant from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837), awarded September 1, 2025, with completion scheduled for August 31, 2027. The grant funds research to develop and validate time to return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) as a novel primary outcome measure for pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest (P-IHCA) clinical trials. The research...
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, a component of the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health, awarded $1,733,846 to The Children's Hospital Corporation, doing business as Boston Children's Hospital, on July 1, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) to investigate emperipolesis as a driver of platelet heterogeneity and function. The award funds basic science research examining how neutrophils interact with megakaryocytes...
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded The Children's Hospital Corporation, doing business as Boston Children's Hospital, $1,531,187 on September 11, 2025, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) to conduct the Radon Asthma Intervention Trial (ROME), a clinical trial investigating whether radon mitigation in homes reduces asthma symptoms and airway inflammation in children. The trial addresses evidence that indoor radon—the most important natural source of...
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded Massachusetts General Hospital (The General Hospital Corporation) $185,196 on January 7, 2027 under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837). The award funds a pilot multi-center cohort study examining patient and caregiver burden in chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). Aim 1 will assess how caregiver support relates to patient outcomes including quality of life, amputation, readmission, and mortality, collecting...
- The National Institutes of Health National Heart Lung and Blood Institute awarded Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago $876,614 on September 1, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) to conduct a multisite prospective cohort study advancing acute respiratory infection treatment in pediatric invasive home mechanical ventilation. The research will enroll 400 children in English and Spanish language families using long-term home mechanical...
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded The Children's Hospital Corporation (Boston Children's Hospital) $866,279 on May 15, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) to investigate coordinated protein synthesis and degradation during neonatal heart regeneration. The project addresses mechanistic gaps in understanding how neonatal cardiomyocytes regenerate after ischemic injury—a capacity absent in adult hearts. The research focuses on proteome...
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute awarded The Children's Hospital Corporation (doing business as Boston Children's Hospital) $943,775 on September 1, 2026, under the Cardiovascular Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.837) to develop and test a feasible, scalable caregiver-reported survey measure of health system behaviors associated with lower medication administration errors in children with chronic pulmonary and hematologic conditions. Caregivers of children with serious chronic pulmonary and hematology conditions manage up to twenty medications daily, including liquid medications, inhaled medications, and injections. Home administration errors are common and frequently result in toxic overdoses or chronic underdoses with poor clinical outcomes. While health system interventions reduce caregiver administration error rates, health system leaders lack feasible, scalable measures to assess the size and scope of medication administration problems in their systems, hindering quality improvement efforts. Research measures require intensive data collection such as home observation, which is not feasible at scale. The research aims to develop a feasible survey measure among children with serious chronic pulmonary and hematologic conditions, focusing on outpatient clinic and hospital discharge settings, and test health system behaviors associated with lower administration errors. Performance of performance is Boston, Massachusetts. The period of performance runs from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2031. The assistance type is a Project Grant.
