Description
New mexico high-impact HIV prevention and surveillance program - the new mexico department of health (nmdoh) has been the lead agency for HIV prevention, HIV services, and HIV surveillance in the state for over three decades. The HIV prevention program remains part of the HIV, STD and hepatitis section within the communicable disease bureau. There is close coordination with the STD program and HIV services program, both of which reside in that same section under a single section manager since 2013. The HIV and hepatitis surveillance program remains a key source of expertise in epidemiology, surveillance and data analysis for both infectious diseases. IT falls within the infectious disease epidemiology bureau, which is at the core of PHD's new center for health protection. Nmdoh will implement a broad range of HIV prevention and surveillance interventions that align with the state's new mexico integrated plan for HIV prevention and care: 2022 - 2026, completed in december 2022 by the new mexico HIV community planning and action group (cpag). This proposal describes goals, smart objectives, strategies, activities and outcomes for each of the four pillars of ending the HIV epidemic (EHE). 1. Diagnose all people with HIV as early as possible. 2. Treat people with HIV rapidly and effectively to result in sustained viral suppression. 3. Prevent new HIV transmissions by using proven interventions, including condom distribution, pre-exposure prophylaxis (prep), post exposure prophylaxis (npep), and syringe services programs (SSP). 4. Respond quickly to potential HIV outbreaks to get vital prevention and treatment services to people who need them.
