Description
GH21-2148 strengthening HIV/aids-related strategic information, laboratory support, and technical assistance services in angola under the president's emergency plan for aids relief (pepfar) - the response to HIV/aids, viral hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted infections (its) poses a continuous challenge for angola. In angola the prevalence of HIV in the population aged 15-49 is 2% (iims 2015-2016), and among women IT is 2.6%. In addition, IT is only 1.2% in men, which shows a greater vulnerability for women.studies also show important regional differences. The prevalence of HIV by province shows that people living in the north of the country, zaire (0.5%), cabinda (0.6%) and uige (0.9%), have the lowest prevalence. Those who live in the south and east, cunene (6.1%), cuando cubango (5.5%) and moxico (4.0%), have the highest rates. These differences are explained since those provinces are close to the border with countries of high prevalence. The epidemic in angola is widespread affecting the various segments of the population, although some of them are shown to be more vulnerable. For instance, women SEX workers have a prevalence of 8.0% according to the results of the place study, 2016 .given the reality described above, the overall objective of this cooperative agreement between inls and CDC is to reduce new infections, morbidity and mortality from HIV/aids, by strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of the inls, provincial and municipal health offices, as well as health care facilities in a sustainable way and by showing commitment to infected and affected people, key and vulnerable populations without overlooking human rights in angola. These objectives will be achieved by adhering to the following principles: universality, respect for human rights, equity, social participation, vulnerability, evidence-oriented programs, accountability, sustainability, multisectoral age, integration, and decentralization. Through this application, inls will also work on the following expected long-term results:(1)increased availability of reliable and accurate HIV data for programmatic and policy decision-making.(2)increased an d improved ability to monitor and evaluate accountability.(3)greater accuracy and reliability of HIV and TB diagnosis; better disease monitoring and increased access to quality diagnostic services.(4)increased proportion of people living with HIV and aids with access to regular viral load testing for HIV monitoring.inls will also work with all those stakeholders whose interest includes the improvement of the national health system based on the adoption of policies aimed at the well-being of the community. We will also work with those who support an increasingly effective and sustainable information system, without losing sight of those who intend to invest in the construction of stronger laboratory services in the country. Ultimately, plhiv will benefit from better quality HIV and aids care and treatment services and the country will benefit from decreased transmission of HIV and aids.
