The Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Aeronautical Center awarded a $130,570.92 firm fixed-price purchase order for NextScan bulk microfiche scanners to Crowley Micrographics, Inc. The purchase order was not set aside for any particular business classification.
The contract is in support of the FAA's effort to digitize their extensive microfiche library, which contains an estimated 1,000,000 images of airman medical records. The NextScan scanners will enable the FAA to efficiently capture and store these records in a digital format prior to the launch of a new IT system in January 2021. Crowley Micrographics is a manufacturer of digitization equipment and provider of document conversion services, with experience supporting similar projects for federal agencies such as the National Archives and Records Administration and NASA.
