Lithium-Sulfur Batteries for Portable Power Applications
Added: Sep 27, 2012 4:19 pm The subject of EPT's proposal is the development of an advanced lithium rechargeable battery using sulfur containing cathode material for portable power applications. The proposed project will reduce the weight of standard Li/SO2 batteries by 50% while adding the rechargeability to reduce cost for training via Lithium/Sulfur (Li/S) batteries. The objective will be measured by comparing prototype Li/S cells to current BA-5590 and BA-2590 batteries with a goal of delivering specific energy equal to a Li-Ion BA-2590 and a specific energy approaching twice that of a BA-5590. Award Notice 3/4 9/27/12, 4:19 PM DoD Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF)
Added: Sep 16, 2011 4:14 pm The attached Broad Agency Annoucement (BAA) issued under the provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Subparts 6.102(d)(2) and 35.016, provides for the submission of White Papers in support of the Department of Defense's Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF). The DoD Components participating in this BAA include the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Defense Teat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Joint Science and Technology Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (CBD). The RIF program was established to facilitate the rapid insertion of innovative technologies into military systems or programs that meet critical national security needs, such as those supporting the resolution of operational challenges characterized by Joint Urgent Operational Needs (JUONs). The RIF program also intends to facilitate innovative technologies that show a clear transition path to fielding the technology into existing Acquisition Category (ACAT) programs or other defense acquisition programs. Award Notice 1/4 9/16/11, 4:14 PM Clip-On Display Optic
Added: Sep 27, 2012 4:23 pm The Clip-On Display Optic (CODO) program objectives are tee-fold. The primary objective creates a fieldable display optic, or optics, capable of providing Heads-Up Display (HUD information to all tee types of day scopes: Short-range / infantry, Medium range / marksman, Long range / sniper. A secondary objective issues an interface document allowing other organizations to create compatible sensor technologies and have the information displayed tough pre-existing CODO hardware. This open interface is key to expanding the integrated sensor suite compatible with the CODO. The final objective creates a long-wave imaging module, a GPS module, and the interface for the Kestrel environmental sensor and STORM LRF, providing an initial operational capability.
