About this program

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the Department of Health and Human Services funds support services and programs for young breast cancer survivors and metastatic breast cancer patients through CFDA 93.374, with the most recent project period running through September 29, 2024.

The program provides grants to organizations serving young breast cancer survivors (YBCS) and metastatic breast cancer patients, with funded activities including caregiver and family support, clinical trial awareness, financial assistance, and quality-of-life improvements for these populations. The CDC prioritizes support to underserved and underrepresented communities and encourages innovative service delivery approaches. Metastatic breast cancer survivor support is included based on organizational reach and capacity.

Eligible applicants span a broad range: government organizations, non-governmental organizations, private colleges and universities, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, for-profit organizations (other than small businesses), and small businesses. The CDC's Office of Grants Services and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control jointly oversee eligibility determination. Applications undergo three-phase review: Phase I for completeness and eligibility, Phase II for substantive evaluation against stated criteria, and Phase III ranking and funding by score.

The source does not provide recent grant award data, portfolio composition by assistance type, funding concentration metrics, or typical award magnitudes. Objective and description

Objective

Goals resulting from providing support to young breast cancer survivors and metastatic breast cancer patients include: increased support for caregivers and families for these individuals, increased awareness of clinical trials by both young women diagnosed with cancer and individuals diagnosed with metastic breast cancer, increased financial support, and improved quality of life among young breast cancer survivors.

Description

The purpose of the proposed program is to increase the availability of services/support for Young Breast Cancer Survivors (YBCS) and their families by supporting organizations and entities that serve this population. By providing support to organizations that serve this community, the program will provide support to underserved, underpresented populations and ensure that services and programs exist for young breast cancer survivors and metastatic breast cancer survivors. The program will use innovative approaches to provide these services and will offer support to metastatic breast cancer survivors due to organizational capacity and reach.
