About this program

The Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs is funding state, local, and tribal government efforts to prevent disclosure of personal information belonging to federal judges and their immediate family members, CFDA 16.074, with the most recent application deadline of October 15, 2026.

The Daniel Anderl Act Judicial Security program addresses a specific federal-state-local partnership need: many federal judges' personal information resides in state and local government records, databases, and registries that are publicly accessible and searchable outside federal control. Funded activities center on creating and expanding systems to redact, remove, or otherwise protect covered judge information from public records. The program explicitly prohibits use of funds for protecting state, local, or tribal judges; grant recipients with existing judicial protection programs must separately track and allocate any expenses that also benefit non-federal judges to ensure costs specific to federal judges are not co-mingled.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance within DOJ's Office of Justice Programs runs the program. Eligible applicants include state governments, county governments, city and township governments, special district governments, tribally recognized tribal governments that perform law enforcement functions, and agencies of any of the above entities operating relevant databases or registries. The assistance type is Project Grant.

The BJA FY 2026 Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Program (Solicitation O-BJA-2026-172661) posted July 23, 2026, with a deadline of October 15, 2026, and represents the most recent open funding opportunity. No prior award history, portfolio concentration data, or typical award magnitudes appear in the source. Award decisions are made by the Assistant Attorney General, and successful applicants have 45 days to accept or decline their award package in JustGrants. Recipients must retain all records for three years from submission of the final Federal Financial Report.
