The City of Aurora, Illinois is requesting proposals for tree trimming, removal, stump grinding, brush and debris removal, and on-call emergency response services under RFP #26-064, with proposals due August 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. — a same-day deadline from posting. Work is performed on an as-needed basis through individual work orders with no guaranteed volume or value on publicly managed trees in public rights-of-way, parks, municipal facilities, and other city-owned properties across approximately 7,833 inventoried street trees.
Proposers must demonstrate at least five years of commercial tree care experience and employ at least one ISA Certified Arborist assigned to the contract. The contract carries an initial one-year term, with the City reserving the right to renew for up to three additional one-year terms at its sole discretion. Award is contingent on City Council approval. Pricing is submitted on unit-price bases: tree pruning per vertical foot by tree height category; tree removal per vertical foot by tree diameter category; stump grinding per vertical inch by stump diameter category; and emergency response premiums per response for varying response times. A bid deposit of not less than ten percent of the total bid amount must be submitted electronically with the proposal, with original deposits delivered within three business days of notification.
The successful contractor must carry a 100% Performance Bond, public liability insurance with limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, workers' compensation insurance, auto liability insurance with combined single limit of $1,000,000, and umbrella excess liability of $4,000,000 per occurrence. Evaluation is conducted in phases: Phase 1 assesses organization and personnel (30 points), qualifications and experience (30 points), project approach (20 points), and pricing (20 points).
