About this opportunity
The state and local contract opportunity for Southwest Waterworks Generator Replacement 2026 is a comprehensive infrastructure procurement project located in Dupage County, specifically within Niles Village, Illinois. The project encompasses a full-scale generator replacement and electrical system upgrade at a municipal waterworks facility. Detailed scope of work includes complete demolition and removal of existing standby generator infrastructure, including concrete pads, sidewalk panels, control devices, and associated electrical cables. Contractors will be responsible for installing a new generator, concrete pad with protective bollards, an automatic transfer switch (ATS)/disconnect unit, and completing associated electrical and control wire installations. Key deliverables involve updating the existing control panel, integrating SCADA systems, performing necessary mechanical and electrical modifications, and conducting an Arc Flash study with appropriate panel labeling. The procurement opportunity was posted on October 24, 2025, with proposal submissions due by November 24, 2025, providing contractors approximately 30 days to prepare and submit comprehensive project proposals.
While specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements are not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the project appears to be a standard municipal infrastructure upgrade that would likely be open to qualified electrical and mechanical contractors with demonstrated experience in municipal utility infrastructure projects. The scope suggests a preference for contractors with specialized expertise in generator replacement, electrical systems integration, and municipal water infrastructure modifications. Though no specific budget range is provided, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving demolition, new equipment installation, electrical upgrades, and system integration—indicates a potentially significant capital investment. Prospective bidders should anticipate having robust technical capabilities, including experience with generator installations, electrical system modifications, SCADA integration, and municipal utility infrastructure projects. The project's technical complexity and precise specifications suggest that only contractors with substantial technical expertise and municipal infrastructure experience will be competitive in the bidding process.
