About this opportunity

Piedmont Community College is soliciting letters of interest from qualified design firms to provide professional design services for the South Campus CDL Driver Training Facility, with submissions due August 7, 2026. Proposing firms must be properly licensed to practice Architecture, Engineering, or Landscape Architecture in North Carolina — the primary eligibility gate.

The scope is a civil and site development project encompassing programming, surveys, civil engineering, grading and drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, utility coordination, pavement design, and construction documents for a new 300' × 300' Commercial Driver's License training facility with a paved driver training pad and associated site improvements. The selected firm will serve as Designer of Record and must assemble any necessary subconsultants to provide all required disciplines.

The total project budget is $1.4 million, funded through Golden LEAF Grant Funds, Private Donations, and Institutional Reserves. An optional pre-submittal site visit is scheduled for July 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Piedmont Community College South Campus, 225 Crown Boulevard, Timberlake, North Carolina; attendance is encouraged but not required.

Submissions must include three hard copies of a Letter of Interest and SF-254 form (10-page maximum, including cover page), formatted as 8½" × 11" pages stapled in the upper left-hand corner without notebooks, binders, tabs, or clips. Email and fax submissions will not be accepted. The selection committee will evaluate firms based on specialized expertise in the project type, past performance on similar projects, staffing and consultant team composition, current workload, proposed design approach, recent experience with project costs and schedules, construction administration capabilities, proximity to and familiarity with the project area, and record of successfully completed projects without major legal or technical problems.
