About this opportunity
Nevada County Information & General Services Department Purchasing Division is requesting bids for snow removal, snowpack removal, and sanding services at county facilities in Truckee and on Floriston Road in Eastern Nevada County, with bids due July 17, 2026 by 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. A 5.0% local-vendor preference for Nevada County businesses applies.
The scope covers two distinct service areas: Floriston Road (approximately 0.6 mile from Interstate 80 on-ramp to the end of county-maintained road) operating 24/7 from October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and three county facilities in Truckee (Government Center, Library, and Joseph Building) during normal operating hours with weekend and holiday services available on request. Snow removal begins when snow depth exceeds four inches; sanding services commence when roads are wet with temperatures below 32 degrees or when ice or snowpack is present. Contractors may bid on one or both service areas, and the county may award separate contracts by area or a single contract covering both. All pricing must be inclusive of disposal fees, hazmat fees, travel, fuel, and other charges, with no separate permits allowed. Floriston Road pricing is a lump-sum seasonal amount with supplemental hourly rates for on-demand services; county facilities pricing is monthly on an hourly basis. The county retains 5% of monthly Floriston Road invoices until season completion for potential repair costs.
The initial contract term is one year with options to renew for up to four additional one-year terms. This is a public works project requiring California Department of Industrial Relations registration, prevailing wage rates (Group 3 Teamster classification), apprenticeship compliance for contracts valued at $30,000 or more, and certified payroll records. Contractors must maintain $2 million commercial general liability insurance, $1 million commercial automobile liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage; hold appropriate California Department of Motor Vehicle license classifications; and possess loaders, rotary snow plows, sand trucks, and plow trucks. Questions are due July 10, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. No pre-bid conference is scheduled.
