About this opportunity

NC State University's Security Applications and Technologies Department is requesting proposals for a pre-qualification pool of security system integrators and product/service providers under an RFP due November 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via Bonfire, with submission constituting entry into an ongoing quarterly evaluation process with no guaranteed minimum or maximum work volume.

The solicitation establishes two class designations: Class A (Security Integrators) and Class B (Security Product/Service Providers). Class A integrators must hold active NC Alarm Licensing and NC Low Voltage (SP-LV) licenses, demonstrate a documented body of work in security system design and installation, maintain local branch offices capable of responding to emergency calls within two hours of NC State's central campus, and employ certified technical staff. All contractors across both classes must supply valid ACORD Certificates of Insurance meeting university minimums: Workers Compensation with $500,000 employer's liability limits, Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and Automobile Liability of $1,000,000. All contractor employees must pass background checks including federal and state criminal searches, sex offender registry checks, and Social Security verification.

Proposers must submit hourly labor rates (low and high) and materials markup percentages; pricing is requested for informational purposes only and will not factor into the pre-qualification evaluation. Rates remain firm for the first contract year, with adjustments indexed to Consumer Price Index changes available only at contract renewal.

The initial contract term is one year from award, with four one-year renewal options, not to exceed five years total. The university reserves the right to perform work in-house or select from the pre-qualified pool as needed. Evaluation occurs in a two-stage Pass/Fail process assessing administrative completeness, valid insurance, qualifications and experience, client references, and scope compliance; any single failure triggers immediate disqualification. The university will maintain quarterly evaluation windows to add suppliers to the pre-qualified pool throughout the contract term.
