About this opportunity
Schenectady County is seeking bids for a comprehensive Disposables and Cleaning Supplies procurement (RFB-2025-34) to support various county departments. The solicitation covers an extensive range of products including batteries, gloves (vinyl, latex, nitrile), trash containers, liners, food service supplies, paper products, cleaning tools, cleaners, laundry supplies, and miscellaneous consumables. Vendors are not required to bid on all items to be considered for an award, providing flexibility in proposal submissions. The procurement allows digital specifications to be obtained through BidNet Direct or by email request, with paper copies available for pickup at the Schenectady County Office Building. Sealed proposals must be submitted by July 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with the county reserving the right to investigate bidder responsibility and reject any proposals that fail to meet its requirements. The county will evaluate bids based on comprehensive product specifications, with many items having strict brand requirements and "No Substitution" clauses. Bidders must complete detailed pricing information on the provided bid item sheet, with the county maintaining significant discretion in vendor selection.
The procurement explicitly encourages participation from woman and minority-owned businesses, emphasizing the county's commitment to diverse vendor engagement. Schenectady County is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, which is reflected in its open and inclusive bidding approach. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the solicitation suggests a potentially significant annual contract value for disposable and cleaning supplies across multiple county departments. The county reserves the right to award to single or multiple vendors based on what is deemed in the best interest of the county, providing additional flexibility in the procurement process. Vendors must demonstrate the ability to meet specific product specifications and supply requirements, with the county maintaining the right to thoroughly investigate bidder capabilities. No incumbent vendor information is provided in the available documentation, and there are no explicit restrictions on vendor size or type beyond the encouragement of minority and women-owned business participation. The procurement appears designed to establish a flexible, comprehensive supply contract for the county's ongoing consumable product needs.
