About this opportunity
The University of Washington is requesting qualifications from architectural and engineering firms to provide design services for the UW Medical Center Montlake 4NN/4EE Acute Care Expansion project, with statements of qualifications due September 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. The University maintains an organizational inclusion goal of 20% for Business Equity Enterprises, including 15% for minority and women-owned businesses, though project-specific goals may vary. Selected firms must register with Access Equity and report monthly subconsultant payments throughout the contract term.
The scope covers comprehensive design services for renovation of the North and East wings of the 4th floor of the Pacific Tower at the Montlake campus (18,500 square feet total) to create approximately 24 additional medical/surgical acute patient care beds/bays. The renovation will convert space previously designated for administrative use back to acute care capacity, designed to support a flexible, acuity-adaptable care model serving general medical/surgical and post-surgical short-stay populations. The University intends to use a General Contractor/Construction Manager contracting method and may employ early selection for mechanical and electrical subcontractors under RCW 39.10.
Evaluation criteria weight staff experience and availability at 35 points maximum, followed by project management approach and programming/concept development experience at 15 points each. Additional evaluation factors include relevant experience, schedule and budget management capability, integrated design experience, business equity inclusion plans, permitting knowledge, and references.
A pre-submission meeting is scheduled for September 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams. Shortlisted firms will be announced October 2, 2026, followed by a mandatory site walk during October 5–9 and interviews scheduled for October 19–23. The finalist selection is expected by October 9, 2026. No contract value or pricing information is disclosed in the RFQ.

Requesting Architectural/Engineering firms to provide design services for the UW Medical Center, Montlake, 4NN/4EE Acute Care Expansion project. The University intends to utilize the General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) contracting method for this project. This project will renovate the 4th floor of the Pacific Tower at the University of Washington Medical Center Montlake campus to create approximately 24 additional medical/surgical acute patient care beds/bays. The North and East wings of the 4th floor of the Pacific Tower encompass 18,500 square feet. The wings were originally designed and constructed as patient care space but were later converted to administrative use. Due to space constraints on the medical campus, UWMC plans to convert these areas back to support acute care capacity.
