About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Transportation is requesting bids for repairing or replacing damaged sign components throughout all 102 Illinois counties on freeways, interstates, and major arterials under statewide Contract 46676, with bids due September 18, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. through the iCX-Integrated Contractors Exchange system and contract completion by September 30, 2031.
The scope includes repairing or replacing damaged sign components, furnishing and installing new signs and supports, and replacing damaged overhead sign structure components and end supports at locations specified through written work orders. The Traffic Operations Engineer issues work orders specifying job location, pay items, quantities, and total cost; contractors must provide 72 hours' notice before beginning fieldwork. Most work orders carry a 75-day completion deadline, with 30 days to erect sign panels and 45 additional days when temporary wood posts serve as interim solutions before new steel posts or truss repairs are installed. Liquidated damages of $100 per day per work order apply for failure to meet deadlines. Traffic control and protection costs are embedded in contract items with no separate compensation. Contractors retain salvage value from removed materials. The contract is funded through Construction Funds and may include Federal-aid funding, requiring state and federal certifications. Contractors are responsible for all damages resulting from their operations and must restore damaged property to pre-damage condition at their own expense.
Estimated quantities represent one-year work volume and establish unit prices that remain constant throughout the contract term. The award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Electronic bids are submitted through iCX-Integrated Contractors Exchange, and bids are publicly opened at 12:00 p.m. on September 18, 2026.
