About this opportunity

The Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife is soliciting bids for construction of a 100-foot by 5-foot pedestrian bridge and associated site work at Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, Colorado (Project CC2501T11, IFB1 PMAA 2027000013), with sealed bids due October 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Colorado resident bidder preferences and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) preferences of up to 5 percent apply. For projects exceeding $500,000, at least 80 percent Colorado labor must be employed, with written justification required if this threshold cannot be met.

The scope includes clearing and grubbing (1.9 acres), erosion control, drilled shaft foundations (24-inch diameter), concrete work, prefabricated steel truss bridge fabrication and installation (100-foot-7-inch clear span with 8-foot out-to-out width), riprap abutment protection, concrete approach slabs, pedestrian and safety railings, landscape restoration with riparian and upland seed mixes, and trail construction. The bridge accommodates a 6-foot clear trail width with 3-foot clearances on each side. The contractor must perform bedrock soundings to 20 feet below assumed bedrock and manage void-form installation and protective board installation. Environmental protections include bird nest removal procedures and equipment disinfection for aquatic invasive species prevention.

The Buy America, Build America requirements apply, with all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials required to be produced in the United States unless subject to an approved waiver. The Buy Clean Colorado Act applies to reinforcing steel and structural steel, requiring Environmental Product Declarations demonstrating Global Warming Potential compliance. Apprenticeship utilization requirements apply if the project budget equals or exceeds $1 million. A 5 percent bid bond is required for bids of $150,000 or more; performance and labor-and-material bonds each equal to 100 percent of contract price are required upon award.

The contract completion deadline is 200 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with substantial completion anticipated by May 31, 2027. The non-mandatory pre-bid conference is September 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Questions are due September 24, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. The anticipated Notice of Award is October 13, 2026. The bid opening location is the Northeast Region Office West Conference Room, 6060 Broadway, Denver, Colorado 80216. Addendum No. 2, dated September 15, 2026, replaced the original Drawing Set 2 with a corrected version and identified Anderson Bridges as a potential manufacturer. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder meeting all stated requirements.
