About this opportunity

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is requesting bids on the North Connector Pedestrian Bridge Replacement project at Cherry Creek Reservoir in Parker, Colorado (Project CC2501T11, IFB1 PMAA 2027000013), with proposals due October 8, 2026. The project is a joint initiative with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and involves replacement of a pedestrian bridge crossing Cherry Creek with associated trail improvements.

The scope includes a single-span prefabricated weathering steel Pratt pony half-through truss bridge (100 feet 7 inches between abutments, 8-foot out-to-out width, 6-foot clear deck); reinforced concrete abutments founded on drilled shafts; approximately 165 cubic yards of borrow material and 23 square yards of concrete trail replacement; Class 6 aggregate base course trail construction with a 5% maximum running slope; and 3-foot-thick Type H void-filled riprap abutment protection. Construction must comply with 2025 CDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and Section 628 bridge specifications. Reinforced concrete is specified as Class DF with f'c = 4,500 psi and Grade 60 reinforcing steel. The design accommodates AASHTO LRFD specifications with a pedestrian live load of 90 PSF, H5 truck loading, and base wind speed of 115 MPH. The site is subject to periodic flooding within USACE reservoir storage zones (water surface elevations 5550.0 to 5648.0 feet), and the contractor is solely responsible for water management, stream crossing control, and ensuring structural stability. Geotechnical investigation identified bedrock at approximately 17 feet below grade at the boring location; contractors must perform sounding holes and bedrock verification prior to drilled shaft construction. High groundwater and soft soil conditions require temporary casing during drilling operations. All construction must comply with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service migratory bird protection protocols and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers notification requirements for discovered historic or archaeological remains.

Contracts exceeding $150,000 require performance bonds equal to 100% of the contract amount and labor and material payment bonds. Bidders must submit a proposal guaranty (Appendix A) equal to 5% of the total bid price. The Division reserves the right to modify quantities by up to 25% without constituting a significant change. The design is 90% complete as of August 28, 2026, and was prepared by Muller Engineering Company Inc.
