About this opportunity
Pierce County Planning and Public Works Department is seeking capability statements for a sole-source procurement exemption to purchase Cornell OEM pump replacement parts and pumps from PumpTech Northwest, with submissions due August 10, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Any entity demonstrating manufacturer authorization to sell Cornell pumps and parts in Washington State may submit a capability statement; if the County determines an alternate vendor meets requirements, the exemption will be canceled and a competitive procurement will be initiated instead.
The scope covers replacement pumps and parts for the Chambers Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, where existing infrastructure operates Cornell pumps exclusively. Pierce County has determined that only Cornell-manufactured components are compatible with current equipment and that Cornell Pump Company cannot warrant non-OEM alternatives. PumpTech Northwest holds sole authorized distributor status for Cornell pumps in the municipal market throughout Washington State under a January 1, 2025 authorization letter from Cornell Pump Company.
The estimated total cost is $300,000 over a 24-month exemption period. The sole minimum requirement for any vendor is current authorization from Cornell Pump Company to sell Cornell pumps, parts, and related components in Washington State. Questions are due August 3, 2026. Capability statements must be submitted electronically through the Pierce County procurement portal. Award evaluation will be conducted by the Pierce County Purchasing Agent in consultation with subject matter experts. Contact Andrew Robson, Pierce County Finance Department, at (253) 798-7456 or andrew.robson@piercecountywa.gov for inquiries.
