About this opportunity
The Boston Water and Sewer Commission is requesting bids on overhead door maintenance and repair services at two Boston facilities under IFB 26-201-006, with bids due September 9, 2026 and a pre-bid conference and facility tour on August 27 at 10:00 a.m.
The scope covers 36 overhead doors across the Commission Headquarters Building (980 Harrison Avenue) and the Material Handling Facility (180–220 Alford Street). Work comprises two service types: bi-annual scheduled inspection and preventative maintenance on all doors, and unscheduled corrective repairs on a time-and-materials basis with a maximum four-hour emergency response time and 24/7 availability. The contractor must maintain adequate parts inventory and complete detailed inspection reports using the BWSC Overhead Door Inspection Form.
Bidders must submit unit prices for bi-annual scheduled maintenance across all 36 doors, plus separate labor hourly rates for normal business hours, overtime, and holidays. Unscheduled corrective repair pricing includes labor hours at those same rates, a percentage markup on manufacturer's list prices for parts and materials, and is capped by an annual lump sum of $63,000 for unscheduled corrective repair costs. All work must comply with Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements, OSHA training standards, and applicable federal, state, and local statutes and codes. The contractor must provide workers' compensation and liability insurance, suitable maintenance uniforms, and submit 100% performance and payment bonds within five business days of award notification along with a 5% bid deposit.
The contract term runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2029, with an option to extend for two additional one-year increments. Questions are due by 4:00 p.m. on August 29, 2026 via the BidNet portal. Contract funding is subject to the availability of budgeted funds.
