About this opportunity

The City of Wichita is requesting bids for on-call tree trimming, pruning, and removal services for the Housing & Community Services and MABCD departments under RFB #260149, with sealed electronic bids due July 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Bidders must hold certification from the Kansas Arbor Association (KAA) or the International Society of Arboriculture Midwest Chapter (ISA MW) and must have a minimum of one year of experience in tree services — the primary eligibility filter.

Work encompasses natural system pruning and complete tree and stump removal across three tree classifications by height (Class I: up to 10 feet; Class II: 10–20 feet; Class III: over 20 feet) and three pruning types (Fine, Medium, Coarse), plus removal services for Class III trees in height ranges from up to 30 feet through 50 feet and above. All work must comply with 2023 ANSI A300 standards published by the Tree Care Industry Association. The bid table includes 15 line items; pricing must be submitted as individual per-tree service fees for all items. Stump grinding must reach 8 inches below grade within five working days of removal, with all debris and wood chips removed same-day.

Contractors must maintain Commercial General Liability insurance with minimum limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate, Comprehensive Automobile Liability coverage, Workers' Compensation as required by statute, and Employers Liability with $1 million per-accident limits and annual aggregate. The City must be named primary and non-contributory additional insured on all policies, with certificates submitted within ten days of award. Contractors are independent contractors responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes; the City provides no benefits.

The contract term is one year with two optional one-year renewals; either party may cancel with 30 days' prior written notice. Award will be based on the lowest and best total net bid from a responsible and responsive vendor. Questions are due by 5:00 p.m. on July 8, 2026, with answers provided via addendum by July 10, 2026. City Council approval is tentatively scheduled for July 28, 2026.
