The City of Trenton, New Jersey is requesting sealed bids for on-call electrical services, LED lighting conversions, and electrical repairs and inspections at city buildings and facilities under IB 2026-87, with bids due September 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and questions due by September 4, 2026. A geographic preference applies to contractors whose base of operations is within 15 miles of Trenton City Hall.

The contractor must be a state-licensed electrician with a minimum of five consecutive years of experience in electrical service, installations, and repairs. Subcontracting is prohibited. The scope includes city buildings, recreation facilities, field lighting systems, pools, and scoreboards. The contractor must respond to emergency calls 24 hours per day, seven days per week within 30 minutes, secure all necessary permits, and comply with local, state, and national electrical codes. All work must be scheduled in advance and approved by a City of Trenton representative.

Pricing is submitted on an hourly basis, with separate rates for licensed electrician labor during normal business hours (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and overtime hours (outside regular hours, weekends, and legal holidays), not to exceed 1.5 times the normal rate. Materials are reimbursed at cost plus a maximum 15 percent upcharge, with supplier invoices required for verification. The city does not guarantee minimum hours and pays only for authorized and actual hours worked. A one-year warranty covering all labor and materials is required.

The contract term is one year with the option to extend for two additional one-year extensions. Award may be made to multiple bidders based on lowest hourly labor rate for normal business hours and ability to meet contract requirements. Mandatory compliance includes New Jersey affirmative action regulations, non-debarment certification, prevailing wage compliance, public works contractor registration, and business registration certificate. Five references and proof of experience must accompany the bid submission. The contract is contingent upon availability of funds. A virtual bid opening will be conducted via Zoom.
