About this opportunity

The City of Boston Procurement Department is requesting bids for three new mid-size all-wheel drive sport utility vehicles for the Boston Fire Department, with bids due September 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM. Bidders must be certified vehicle dealerships and are required to submit a completed compliance document with their bid; failure to do so will render the bid non-responsive.

The vehicles must be new, latest production models with 1.5L turbo four-cylinder engines, electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmissions, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and P225/65R17 all-season tires on 17-inch aluminum wheels. Interior specifications include four doors, black paint, darkest available cloth seats, full gauge package, AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth, and air conditioning. Standard accessories are four sets of keys with fobs, color backup camera, weathertech all-weather floor liners, and Boston Fire decals on front doors. All vehicles must be delivered complete, serviced, registered with license plates, and current on Massachusetts motor vehicle inspection.

Delivery is a critical evaluation factor. Vendors must state delivery timeframes in their bids and arrange delivery appointments through Chris Willett at 617-343-3312, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM. The awarded contractor must provide minimum three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year/100,000-mile drivetrain and roadside assistance warranty with zero deductible, including full no-cost pickup and delivery for all warranty work. The vendor must additionally warrant allied equipment against faulty workmanship and materials for two years and provide comprehensive training for troubleshooting and repair of all systems.

Bids will be evaluated on total price and responsiveness to specifications, with contract award going to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Contract award is subject to Mayor approval and appropriation availability. Bidders must certify non-debarment status, compliance with prevailing wage laws where applicable, non-discrimination policies, state tax compliance, and adherence to Boston's Criminal Offender Record Information standards. The contract term is one year. Public bid opening occurs September 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM at One City Hall Square, Room 808, Boston, MA 02201. For bid-specific questions, contact Chris Radcliffe at 617-635-3422 or Christopher.Radcliffe@boston.gov.
