About this opportunity
The City of Wichita, Kansas Parks and Recreation Department is requesting sealed bids on an irrigation improvement project involving the upgrade, enhancement, and replacement of aging irrigation and sprinkler systems at Auburn Hills Golf Course and Tex Consolver Golf Course under RFB #260232, with bids due October 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Addendum 1 was issued September 26 modifying the original bid specifications; vendors must electronically acknowledge receipt of the addendum through the procurement portal (wichita.gov/procurementportal) as a condition of bid submission.
Bidders may submit bids for Group 1 (Auburn Hills), Group 2 (Tex Consolver), or both groups. The scope is installation of complete new irrigation systems including all materials, labor, equipment, and incidentals required to make each system fully operational. Bidders must specify equipment from Hunter, Rainbird, or Toro; CMF/Aquafuse proprietary materials are not approved. Minimum qualifications are at least five years of golf course irrigation project experience, completion of at least three 18-hole golf course irrigation systems within the past five years, and certification to install HDPE pipe.
All work must be completed within 150 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $500 per incomplete location per day for delays beyond this deadline. Award is based on lowest and best total net base bid per group from a responsive and responsible vendor. A 5% bid security bond is required at submission; successful bidders must provide 100% performance bond and labor and material payment bonds running to the State of Kansas. Commercial general liability insurance with minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 annual aggregate is required, along with comprehensive automobile liability, workers' compensation, and employers' liability coverage. All bids must remain valid for 30 days from opening. Pre-bid conferences are scheduled for September 22, 2026 at Tex Consolver Clubhouse (10:00 a.m.) and Auburn Hills Clubhouse (2:00 p.m.), with a virtual option available. Written questions are due by 5:00 p.m. September 23; answers will be provided via addendum September 25. City Council approval is tentatively scheduled for October 13, 2026.
