About this opportunity
The Town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts is requesting bids on a new middle school construction project under an IFB restricted to prequalified DCAMM bidders, with bids due October 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Participation is limited to contractors on the prequalified-bidders list attached to the legal notice; others have been rejected and are ineligible.
The scope encompasses a ground-up two-story building of approximately 135,534 square feet on the existing Williams Middle School site at 410 Williams Street, including sitework (stormwater drainage, utilities, parking lots, vehicular paths, landscaping, athletic fields, and offsite improvements). The work is phased to keep the existing facility operational. After the new building is occupied, abatement and demolition of a single-story building will follow. Twenty-two trades require DCAMM certification for filed sub-bids, including masonry, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and specialty trades. Contractor and all subcontractors must strive to achieve minority workforce participation of 15.3% and women workforce participation of 6.9% under M.G.L. c. 149A, Section 8.
The estimated contract value is $110 million. A 5% bid deposit (payable to the Town of Longmeadow) and 100% Performance Bond and 100% Material & Payment Bond are required. The project is subject to prevailing wage requirements under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 149A. Fontaine Brothers, Inc. serves as the Construction Manager at Risk.
The pre-bid conference and site visit are scheduled for October 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. (not mandatory). Requests for Information are due October 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Electronic bidding occurs through www.biddocs.com; contract documents are available for download at no cost or hard-copy inspection at Nashoba Blue Inc. in Hudson, Massachusetts. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids and award in its best interest.
