About this opportunity

The City of Wichita, Kansas, Public Works & Utilities Department, Stormwater Division, is requesting bids for generator replacement at Stormwater Pump Station #7, with sealed bids due September 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. CT and a pre-bid conference on September 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. CT at the pump station (420 South Ridgecrest, Wichita).

The scope includes removal and off-site hauling of the existing generator, installation of a new 200 kW, 60 Hz, 1800 RPM natural gas standby generator on the existing concrete pad, integration with the automatic transfer switch (ATS), and completion of electrical and fuel system testing. Bidders must submit pricing for the base bid and Option 1 (10-year extended warranty), with award based on lowest and best total net bid. A 5% bid bond must accompany each submission. Upon award, the successful bidder must provide a performance bond equal to 100% of contract value and a labor and material payment bond to the State of Kansas.

Minimum qualifications include at least three years of experience in similar work and current registration with the Kansas Secretary of State; municipal government experience is preferred. Bidders must carry commercial general liability insurance with minimum limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, comprehensive automobile liability, workers' compensation, and employers' liability insurance, naming the City as primary and non-contributory additional insured. Invoices must itemize labor hours, hourly rates, and material costs.

The contract includes liquidated damages of $100 per calendar day if equipment is not delivered within 39 weeks after final approvals. Questions are due September 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. CT, with answers provided via addendum by the week of September 14. City Council approval is anticipated for September 22, 2026. Bidders must visit the job site to verify all conditions and dimensions; vendor errors in site assessment will not justify cost-increasing change orders.
